That Awful Mess on the Via Merulana by Carlo Emilio Gadda
Invention of Morel was the achievement of a life long dream.(I exaggerate slightly)
I second Via Merulana.
Also Rogue Male and
The Post-Office Girl
Here's mine:That Awful Mess on the Via Merulana
Stoner
The Post-Office Girl
Act of Passion
The Book of Ebenezer Le Page
Here are my nominations Memoirs From Beyond The Grave by Chateaubriand
Charles Bovary,Country Doctor by Jean Amery
Havoc by Tom Kristensen
Our Spoons Came From Woolworths by Barbara Comyns
Or any Simenon - I haven’t read any of them yet.
Thanks everyone. I am going to second Sarah's nomination of Charles Bovary since I have been meaning to read it.
It's very difficult to get Simenon's titles - I tried Book Depository and some stores in NYC. I am looking for total of 7 titles, including Dirty Snow :( , but have not been successful in finding any.

I went to vote, but remembered that I will be reading Anniversaries in August (and an over 1000 page book, from Galley Beggar: Ducks, Newburyport. I don't want to vote since I can't promise I'll be able to read.
It's a tie! So I suggest we read Charles Bovary, Country Doctor: A Portrait of a Simple Man in August and That Awful Mess on the Via Merulana in September. If anyone would like to lead the discussion for either book, please pm me.
I somehow just got around to reading the results here and I think that is an excellent solution. I look forward to them both.
I think the diary starts on Aug 21, which is when I will start it. I plan on reading a diary entry a day. If the diary skips days, I will skip days,
