Play Book Tag discussion

A sci-fi retelling of Snow White, very creative! I liked the other book, Spinning Starlight, a bit better, but this one was still good. Essie has been on the run from her stepmother and father for eight years on the mining planet of Thanda. Skilled with tech, she has amassed a collection of seven mining droids that she uses to make a living patching things up when they malfunction on the rough mining world. When she investigates a shuttle crash, she ends up kidnapped by Dane, who is looking for the missing Princess Snow to trade for his people who are prisoners on Snow's homeworld of Windsong.

I liked the characters of Essie and Dane, and the slow burn of their relationship. The first two-thirds of the story flows nicely, and I was all set to give it 4.5 stars, but in the last third things kind of slowed down a bit, and the resolution at the end went a bit too smoothly and easily, kind of like how fairy tales end with a "happily ever after", so I docked a half star. Still a very good book and I hope there will be more to come from this author!
