Since the book will be widely available through Overdrive for the rest of June, I'm hoping to spark some interest in a buddy read. Anybody interested?

Heather(Gibby) (heather-gibby) | 466 comments I'm in, just need to finish up the book I am currently reading.

Susan | 852 comments I was planning to read something by Dumont for bingo, so I should be able to join as well.

Barbara McEwen (babsbookobsession) | 215 comments Oh, I like Dawn Dumont. I'm in too.

Wanda | 769 comments I have had a copy of this for some time- I will try and add it to my list for this month, I love the cover!

Heather(Gibby) (heather-gibby) | 466 comments I have read the first 6 stories. At first I was a little taken aback at how abruptly they ended, now that is what I am loving about them. Knowing that you will still get to visit each of the characters again in the upcoming stories helps with that.

I love the cover also, I would love to get it on a T-shirt

Allison ༻hikes the bookwoods༺ (allisonhikesthebookwoods) | 1783 comments I checked out the ebook and the audiobook from the library, but was ready for a new listen before a new read, so I went that route. It took a few stories, but I eventually became invested in the characters. Like you, @Heather(Gibby), I was disappointed with how each story came to an abrupt end, but was happy with how outstanding questions were usually answered in the next story. I had hoped the end of the book would bring a stronger sense of closure than the other stories, but it felt just as sudden as the rest, without another story to follow.

Susan | 852 comments I have read about 7 stories in this so far and am enjoying it. I like the way it's structured, with a patchwork of stories, and so far the jumps in time aren't bothering me. I do tend to like books with this sort of format, as it makes me feel more involved as a reader as I piece things together.

Allison ༻hikes the bookwoods༺ (allisonhikesthebookwoods) | 1783 comments This was my first time reading Dawn Dumont, but I was under the impression that her writing was humorous. I think I went into this one with the misconceived notion that I was in for a few chuckles.

Allison ༻hikes the bookwoods༺ (allisonhikesthebookwoods) | 1783 comments There’s a public Facebook group to discuss the book as well.

Heather(Gibby) (heather-gibby) | 466 comments I have finished the book, I really enjoyed it, but had a lot of questions at the end that did not get answered. One thing I really did not understand in the story “SundAnce” (view spoiler)

Susan | 852 comments I finished this the other night. I liked it overall, but I did feel as if I lost the thread on some of the characters toward the end of the book. Maybe the time frames jumped forward a bit too much later on? Julie, in particular, had me flipping back and thinking, Wait, what happened in that other story? For example, (view spoiler). As well, Everett sort of dropped out of the book and it wasn't clear to me what was going on with him.

Also, and I hate complaining about this, the copy I read had a lot of small, stupid editorial mistakes. I had to read this on ebook from Hoopla, so perhaps there was a problem with the conversion of the text. I expect a blooper here and there these days, but there were a lot in the copy I read and that paired with the puzzling story problems made me wonder if this book could have benefited from a more rigorous edit.

Allison ༻hikes the bookwoods༺ (allisonhikesthebookwoods) | 1783 comments @Susan, completely agree on the missing pieces in some of the story lines. (view spoiler) It's hard to say with any degree of certainty due to the way it's written.

Susan | 852 comments Allison, yes, you're right. Later, it was revealed (view spoiler) But I spent a significant amount of time being confused about what had happened until that revelation right near the end of the book. It seemed a bit sloppy to me.

Allison ༻hikes the bookwoods༺ (allisonhikesthebookwoods) | 1783 comments And I was really hoping for a story about how (view spoiler)

Lisa (lisafriel) | 210 comments Hi! Just catching up with the group. I have had this book on my TBR for while, so I just checked it out on overdrive. I enjoyed Nobody Cries at Bingo. I have a couple of other books I am currently reading first. Will check in after to view the spoilers.

I just finished listening to the book and have now read the posts. I was thinking that i was missing bits and pieces as audio was not the best format but see that you all had similar questions.

I did like the format with the gaps in time but found I had to really pay attention to all of the characters in audio.

Perfect timing to finish listening to the book on Indigenous People's Day!

Barbara McEwen (babsbookobsession) | 215 comments Ok, I finished the audiobook. I liked it for the most part but the sleeping around drove me nuts! I am way too jealous and angry a person to deal with that, lol.
