I really liked the ending of the book, and I was glad I kept reading to get there. Loose ends were wrapped up nicely. I would have liked to have seen more depth to the characters. I wasn’t able to like any of them because they were all, without exception, very quirky people, and I couldn’t get a feeling of who they really were.

Me too! I'm glad I stuck with it. This was like the male version of "Eleanor Oliphant". I really enjoyed that book as well but just like this book, I wished the trauma had been revealed a bit earlier so the character could be understood a little better.
I really liked Andrew's train forum friends. There was something so heartwarming about complete strangers coming to his rescue.

I have also heard comparisons to Eleanor from others. I enjoyed this book, and thought there were a good mix of likeable and unlikeable characters. It was great to see his coworkers come together at the end and help him with Carl. Andrew had great people around him and it only took meeting Peggy for him to fully comprehend it.
I started out not liking the book at all. I read it because i felt i had to for this group. I ended up really liking it! Peggy made all the difference in his life. Good book!

I really appreciated the balance of likeable and unlikeable characters. Sometimes I feel like authors want the reader to love everyone. Carl was still the worst but everyone, is their own way helped Andrew.

Same here!! I’m glad I finished it because I think there’s a lot to learn from Andrew’s experiences. There really are good people in the world... even on train forums. :)

Agree, Jennifer. As an introvert, I find it to be extraordinarily hard at times to find the will to expend the effort to nurture friendships “in real life”. I’ve been lucky recently to have a circle of friends who forced me to participate in friendship and it opened my eyes to the amazing benefits. It makes it a little easier to make the effort. Andrew’s blossoming is added evidence that it’s worth it.
I didn't know what to expect from the Book Club for Introverts or from this book, but I'm glad I jumped in and gave it a go.Once I got into this book I knew I was going to enjoy it and I did. I identified a lot with the British humour and it really was a wonderful read.
Andrew's situation got me wondering about some of the people I have worked with and how I never really took the time to get to know them. Sometimes people only tell us what they want to, or even what they think we want to hear. There are a lot of lonely people out there, even though we live in such a 'connected' society.
William, I’m so glad you jumped in with both feet! It’s always nice to have new voices around. 🤓
I wasn’t sure what to expect of the book either but I still find myself thinking about the book a few weeks later.

I was a bit worried when I started this book since it was a bit dry and I kept seeing people say they hated it. I kept reading it though because I wanted to give it an honest try and Im glad I did. I really liked Andrew as a character and watching him develop. What I really enjoyed about his development was that he was an introvert that suddenly turned into an extrovert. Andrew remains an introvert but we find out why he shut himself off from the world.
