This topic covers the Conclusion, Part I and II, p. 247 - 266

The conclusion to Bachelard's book is in two parts. The first part is about writing and reading literature, and more specifically about the relationship of music and silence in poetry. Edgar Poe makes one last come back in this section -- he is Bachelard's darling!

The second part of the conclusion is a bit longer and deals at the same time with Bergson's philosophy of movement; the dialectical link between matter and life; the ascending and descending progress in alchemical thought. A somewhat disorientating ending note, in my opinion.
