Additional Points
The teams will get additional bonus points as below:
◈ Points will be available for participation in BOM discussions (specifically June's YA BOM, both July BOMs and August's Adult BOM).
- Writing a day's worth of discussion questions = 40 points
- Participating in a current BOM (participating in discussion) = 20 points

Top Shelves
Each word on the wheel has been paired with a genre. If you read and use a book with the matching genre, you will gain 5 bonus points per book, for a maximum of 10 books / 50 points per team. Genres must match exactly (though plural/singular is OK), and must be found on page 1 of the "Top Shelves" for the book. There is no minimum number of tags needed, provided it is present on page 1. If it's at the bottom of page, you might want to get approval from the Captains Group.

Welcome to Anne of Green Gables! Is everyone excited to get started? Melinda and I will get stuff added to our reserved spots above as soon as possible since we get started on Friday - yay!!!

In the meantime, I live near Los Angeles so I'm on Pacific time. I'm divorced with no kids but two needy dogs and 1-1/2 cats. I mostly read romance, but for these challenges I'll read just about anything. More later as I'm just waking up (yawn......)

I am very excited to read with you all in this challenge.
I participated in the last 3 Tower team challenges, but this will be my first wheel-a-ton.
I am from Hungary (timewise CEST or GMT+2), live with hubbie & my 5-year-old son in a small town not far from the capital Budapest, where I work and where I commute every day by train. Commute-time is precious as I can get a lot of reading done.

My favourite genres are classics, fantasy, golden-age detective fiction, romance, middle-grade. My top favourite authors are Jane Austen & Terry Pratchett. I love physical books, but I also keep my kindle in high regard & I like listening to audiobooks as well.

BTW - our first word is Beige and genre is Adventure

of course it is. not that the letters themselves will be that difficult [although ugh, double e's] but i just absolutely hate beige as a color lol. also i'm not sure what i have that would quality as adventure but i'll do some digging around later.

anyway, i did tower teams and wheel last year, but those were my first two team challenges in this group. i'm guessing we are all pretty fast readers since our team seems to be the smallest? i think i will probably be able to do 6 or 7 wheel-appropriate books per week although i do read graphic novels and short stories on the side as well. i read most genres although fantasy is my favorite. i am still holding out hope for cinnamon as our next word since i am reading almost all lgbt books this month for pride lol

I'm not a fan of the color beige either (although I think I do have some beige-ish walls in my house :-)) For the genre, it just has to be on the first page of Top Shelves, so some books that you might not think are adventure might have a tag. If there is only one tag, it can't be yours, though.

I'm 27, from the UK, no kids yet, just my gorgeous dog. For a living I have a little business creating and selling pet accessories so I'm a big animal fan! My favourite genres are fantasy, horror and sci-fi.

Very excited to get going and play with you all.

The half cat is a feral cat that requires I feed her, but otherwise wants nothing to do with me. What kind of pet accessories do you make and sell? That's so fun and interesting!

Hi Devann & Megan. We ARE 1 of the smallest teams, but I guess we are all ferocious readers. :)
I am a fast reader, though normally I like taking my time to read books...however, I'm also competitive as hell, so once it's time for a challenge, the reading-frenzy can get me pretty hard :D

Hi team! I'm so excited to read with all of you. I'm travelling until the 24rd - I should be able to read quite a bit til next Wednesday - then I'll have 2.5 days of no books - wow I hope I can survive!

I live In Idaho, and teach math at the university here. I don't work summers, but it often seems like I don't get to read as much in the summer since things aren't routine! I like all genres, and I am soooo addicted to Goodreads Challenges.

I'll look at my books and see what I have that might be tagged "Adventure". I swear I always see that when I don't need it....

I live in Winnipeg, Canada, and work in a lab doing transfusion medicine testing. I've got a husband and two cats.

I've been doing NRBC challenges for ages (Wheel, TT, WOBBLE, Cutthroat). The more intense, the better. I love to read everything, and my reading usually goes up during a good competitive challenge.

I've got my first book already picked out for the challenge. It works for B (at least, will have to check all the characters once I start), has 668 pages, and is tagged adventure.

Welcome on board Joanne and thanks for the heads-up concerning your reading intentions. ;)

Normally I read books according to my mood, but when it's challenge time, I am more focused on trying to find books fit for specific tasks.

For this challenge, I will start with re-reading the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews. I recently finished the ARC for Sapphire Flames and loved every page but got an enormous book-hangover out of it. :) I hope this fixes it a bit. :)
Burn for Me will work for B & I.

+ I am planning to read Denial of Conscience which is a modern and rather wild take on Pride&Prejudice. Hopefully the Mods will accept it as adventure.

Sandy / Megan / Suzanne / Devann! Any specific books picked out to start the challenge or will it be inspiration of the moment? :)

BTW, I just saw that the book for the Backroom Discussion starting on 16 June, Perfect Formation is actually a kindle freebie. It's not my usual choice of adult fiction (though I like my shot of steamy romances from time to time), but it got me intrigued, so I downloaded it and will definitely participate in the BOM discussion.

Wow, Megan. I love the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde, I read those books twice, but haven't read any other works by him, even though I have had Shades of Grey lined up on my TBR shelf for some time now.

i know i am going to read Roadkill by Rob Thurman first because i am buddy reading the series with a few other people and that will work for b and g for sure with character names, possibly i as well ...i can't remember how much ishiah is in this particular book but if he shows up enough i'll add it to the options. also it is tagged as adventure so it works for the bonus points too.

not sure what else i'm reading yet as i haven't had a chance to go through stuff, but i'm hoping to figure it out sometime today or at least tomorrow night

I haven't actually read anything by Jasper Fforde before so this one will be my first experience! His books look totally up my street though so I'm excited to start.

I an an impulse reader too - and I enjoy how much my TBR list grows in this challenge - there are so many fun books out there.

I'm planning on reading and starting Friday. Both are tagged adventure on the 1st page of tags. I think Waistcoats works for B and G and Ghosts works for B (and maybe others as I discover characters). I put them into the planning sheet, but I guess there is the caveat that they may change if my mood way changes before Friday. :)

I haven't decided what book I'm going to start with. I've found a few with the Adventure tag and I'm also doing SRC and finishing up the NBRC Right Side Up challenge, so hoping to find some books that fit everything! I usually have at least two books going at once - one on my kindle and an audiobook. I've got a number of books on hold through Overdrive, so when they become available I try to read them as soon as possible.

It's afternoon in my place. I also usually read at least 2 books, 1 kindle - 1 audio. I will start listening to The Kiss Quotient & read Burn For Me on kindle on Friday.

i generally plan out my tbr every month and then for this challenge i have to break that down into a weekly tbr but at least i've got a shortlist already, i just need to see what has the right letters or genre. and then also cross my fingers that i will actually read it and not dnf it after the first few chapters. sometimes i get into a real mood and delete like 5 books of my tbr in a single day bc nothing is keeping my interest -_-;

Arggghhhhh.......I'm looking for books to read for our word and it seems like everything I'm interested in reading is a few pages short of the next page count level - 384 pages, 396 pgs, 492 pages, 292 pages....sigh.......

There are SO many like that! Drives a person crazy!

So many good books mentioned here. I've read all of Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series and the Shades of Grey book and I have all his other books on my tbr.

I'm obsessed with everything Ilona Andrews and I recently reread the Nevada Baylor series, but haven't read the 3.5 book since I'm saving it until at least book 4 comes out.

Also a big fan of Gail Carriger and read the first book in the Finishing School series recently. Hope to get to book 2 soon.

most of my books will probably be in the 200-300 page range but i do actually have several i'm hoping to get through this month that are between 400-500. i don't think i have more than a handful on my whole tbr that are over 500 though so i definitely won't be bringing the points with the longer books lol

so for the tagging i know it has to be the exact word but does it have to ONLY be that word? like if someone tagged a book 'het-fantasy-adventure' does that count because of the word adventure or not count because it has other qualifiers as well?

@Melindam you said you liked terry pratchett so i was wondering if you remembered if there were any characters with the right letters for week 1 in Hogfather if you've read that one? it's the discworld book i'm reading next and it's tagged as adventure so it would be great if we could use it but from the summary/characters listed on here i'm not getting anything that would work.

I just read Hogfather last December - Terry Pratchett is so funny. I know there is a character named Bilious. Melindam may remember others.

Joanne I really enjoyed that Passage series that you are reading first. I love those "what would you do" end of the world stories!

I'm going to try to stick to pretty short books the first week since I'm basically out of commission next Wednesday afternoon and won't be home til Sunday night. But I'll get as much read as I can! And most weeks (knock on wood) should be calmer. I have slept in my own bed 3 nights since May 10 - I'm looking forward to "boring" if there is such a thing.

Hogfather is one of my favourite books by Terry Pratchett. It's also very memorable as it came into my unsuspecting hands not long after I had a nasty break-up with my then-boyfriend and was very down in the mouth.
I still remember how I bought the book on a whim & then opened it while on the metro and started giggling like mad right after 5 minutes into it with all the other passengers giving me funny looks.

- Bilious, the oh-god-of-hangovers (as Suzanne mentioned) & Banjo
- Gawain Gaiter (one of Susan's charges as a governess, minor character, but important & speaking role)
- Ernie (a minor figure, a Coachman who brings the teeth to the Toothfairy, but has a speaking role for almost a chapter's worth of the book, so he counts)
- Igor (bartender of Biers, favourite place for shifters and other otherworldly creatures. He is a minor, but important character with a speaking role, also counts)
