Crash Site - The tail end of the plane crashed into the jungle on a small secondary island to the east of 'island unknown'. Crashing into the dense forest certainly helped to soften the landing, but finding your way out of the jungle might prove difficult (and dangerous.) Hanging vines and a thick canopy cloak the surrounding area and ancient trees make up the rest. Be wary of quick sand, snakes and dangerous animals hiding in the undergrowth.

Recoverable Items - Items recovered from the initial crash site are not listed, just try to be sensible with what your character finds. Understandably, if you join the rp at a later date these threads are likely to be empty of useful content.

earlier that morning

It was the last day of an amazing trip, surfing, scuba diving, and sightseeing apart of the package. Flynn wished he could've stayed at the hotel the entire morning he was exhausted from everything they'd done in the past week. He was surprised his father wasn't as tired as he was, this was the most energized he'd seen his father in years and his father was getting up there in years. He's reminded yet again that this vacation wasn't just for him, it was for his father to have a break as well. However, despite his many many protests, his father insisted they should at least attempt to make it to the airport on time. Flynn was glad he thought to pack his bags the night before, it meant he was able to grab more than a bagel for breakfast (courtesy of the hotel of course) before they left. They made it to the airport a little behind the recommended schedule, but they still had time to look around the airport's gift shop after they'd checked in their bags and made it through security. Hell, they probably had time to sleep in longer, Flynn certainly wished they would've taken the extra sleep instead of the jaunt around the gift shop. Although he did manage to find a pretty cool snake keychain to take home with him.

They sat down and Flynn took out his phone, opening up his camera taking pictures of his newly acquired item to send over snapchat. His friends were probably sick of his story by now, the last week had been nothing, but vacation photos and he's pretty sure he lost more than a couple of good streaks. Whoops... Oh, well he'd pick them back up when he got back home. With that done he opened up his photos app to show his father all the pictures he'd taken of their trip over the last week. Most of them had already been posted to his insta, but he made notes of the ones he still had to post. He'd get to posting them when they got back home, that and the snapchat stories, he'd be super busy when he got back apparently. Eventually, he ran out of pictures to show off and he settled back in his chair, content to scroll through social media and play the few games he had on his phone for the time being.

It wasn't too long before his father was shaking his shoulder gently signaling it was almost time to board. Flynn was glad they'd made room in the budget to check in their suitcases at the desk, they hadn't been so lucky on their first flight and they'd almost lost their luggage in the process. Somehow their bags had gotten on a wrong connecting flight, they were just lucky the airport was able to retrieve them and send them to the airport where they'd landed, otherwise, their whole trip would've been ruined. Soon they were able to get in line and walk through the tunnel where they finally boarded the plane that'd take them one step closer to home. Their tickets were nothing too fancy, situating them in one of the back rows, but as long as Flynn could sleep for the duration of the flight he didn't care where they sat.

Flynn was checking through his phone for the last time before take-off one last time. He'd been chatting with one of his friends who was going through some shit trying to help him from over 2000+ miles was hard. He texted his friend that he'd get back to him later at the next airport. Flynn could feel he was already starting to doze off as the flight attendant began their lecture about bags, seatbelts, and what to do in case of an emergency. He was prevented from falling asleep by the announcement that all electronics be turned off for take-off, as soon as his phone was on airplane mode Flynn settled back into his seat, waiting for take-off before he attempted to fall asleep. Take-off went smooth and soon Flynn was drifting off to sleep, exhausted from his week-long vacation.

Flynn was still asleep when the plane started to shake, then he was literally jolted out of his sleep as the plane jerked in the air. Flynn's stomach sank as looked out the window and saw the plane taking a nose dive towards the water. Oxygen masks fell from above, Flynn looked to his left making sure his dad had his on before he attempted to fit his mask over his face. The masks made no different as Flynn found himself losing consciousness as the plane lost altitude, he had just enough time to send a prayer to whoever was up above that his death would be quick and painless.

the present

The first thing Flynn noticed as he began to wake up was an incredible pain in his head and neck. Most likely whiplash, his brain supplied helpfully, it took him a minute to realize where he was and surprisingly he was still in his seat. Guess the flight attendants were right to tell them to keep their seatbelts on, it probably saved his life. "Dad?" He called out, remembering that his father had been with him in the plane, but he couldn't see or hear any sign of him. Flynn was slowly starting to come out of his dazed state, taking in his surrounds at first all he could see in front of him was green. Then he remembered that despite his neck hurting like a bitch he could turn his head. Part of the plane to his right was completely missing and Flynn could see into what looked like a jungle, complete with trees, vines, and leaves. On his left, he could see a beach and people, but there was no sign of his dad in the seat next to him or among the other people. Finally, his limbs remembered how to move and with shaky hands, he released his seatbelt and used the armrest to help himself on his feet. The seats that'd been in front were still attached and Flynn could make out his bookbag still wedged underneath. He quickly grabbed it and looked around to see if he could spot his father among the wreckage.

At first, he didn't see him and was about to call out to him again then Flynn turned and spotted his father hanging from a tree, body mangled with debris from the plane. Somehow he'd been thrown from his seat upon impact. Flynn turned away unable to face the gruesome sight of his father, that's when he spotted two bodies - alive not dead - in the ocean. He ran closer to the edge of the beach shoving every panicked thought about his father and the plane to the back of his head. He hasn't compartmentalized this much since his unc- no. no. He couldn't think about that either, not right now. He could find a nice quiet place to panic later, he watched as other people began moving to shore, but two didn't move. He wondered if something was wrong, but then why was no else helping? Well if they were in trouble he couldn't just sit there, he set his bag near a rock and pushed his shoes off, he didn't need any extra weight if he was going to swim in these waves.

He waded into the water, praying to God that this act of stupidity wasn't going to get him killed. Flynn very carefully started to swim towards the other wreckage being careful not to fight too much with the current. Halfway there a larger wave threatened to pull him under, but he managed to remain afloat long enough to reach the wreckage. "Hey! What are you two still doing out here?" He shouted over the water.

Flynn grabbed ahold of one of the rocks in front of him, his main concern at the moment was to keep his head above the water without using too much of his energy. That and to figure out how to get them all to shore safely. It'd be impossible to try to help both of them at the same time, but taking them one at a time also wasn't feasible. It'd take too long and Flynn was worried about one of them freaking out if the other wasn't there. If he was sane, he'd turn around and swim back towards the island, but he never claimed to be sane and the only person he had to live for was dead, so what the hell. "Ok... My name is Flynn, I'm going to do my best to help you two." He shouted over the sound of waves and people screaming. Think... he had to think of a way to get all of them to shore without killing one or all of them in the process.

Then he remembered something he'd heard one of the flight attendants talk about during the safety first speech earlier that day. Admittedly he'd been half asleep during that talk, but he did remember them explain about the floatation devices that made up their seats, it was a long shot, but if he could find a couple of the seats, they could possibly make use of them. "I think I have an idea I; I'm going to go look for something, I'll be right back." He called out, turning to head towards the wreckage in the water. He carefully picked his way through the water trying not to look too closely at the bodies strewn in the water. He took a deep breath as he got closer to the interior of the plane, the smell was intense and left him reeling, but he kept pushing on, adrenaline was a hell of a drug.

Flynn was almost positive his plan wouldn't work, the plane had flipped over and it'd take a crazy maneuver to get above to the seats where the flotation devices were. He swam further inwards, hoping to catch sight of something that could help the three of them out. It seemed his non-existent prayers had been answered, there were two seats just barely in the water, Flynn made his way towards them and noticed that the actual cushions were floating. Huh, not the life jackets he was looking for, but they could potentially work. He grabbed them and made his way back to where the others were waiting.

"Hey I found something that could work, but I'm going to need your help to make this work. Both of you will grab onto one, I'll do my best to pull, but you'll have to help me by kicking. Hopefully, it'll be enough to get us to shore." He explained, bringing the two floating cushions closer to the rocks. "I'll hold them steady so you two can grab hold."
