So, I hadn't expected to already have people interested just a few days after I decided to give this a try. Does anyone want to give a September meeting a shot? The September book is We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. My best friend is really pushing for me to read it because it reminds her of an author we love Carol Goodman. I just put myself on the Columbus Metropolitan Library's eBook wait list and I'm #152 in line for one of 62 available copies! Apparently everyone else in the world is reading this, too. The paper copy has 47 people waiting for one of 137 copies.

We could set a planned meeting date for say, Tuesday Sept 30, just to pick a date. Or if you have any other thoughts, let me know!

The October book, Anna Dressed in Blood appears to be much more readily available.

Lindsay Jones (existentialunicorn) Tuesday, September 30 works for me ...

I managed to get a copy at the library yesterday as a "quick pick", so you might try that at your CML branch.

Awesome, I have to return a book, so I'll drop in and see what they have available!

I forgot to take my book I was returning with me, but dropped by my branch while I was out today. No luck on We Were Liars, but they DID have the new John Scalzi book Lock In on the quick pick shelf, which I jumped on. So I didn't unload the book I planned on returning, I didn't pick up the book I was hoping to find, but I did add another to my library stack...that's about par for the course in my life!!

I've had the main FYA webpage add Sept 30 to their site and Twitter feed for our meeting. If it ends up not working for a significant number of people, we'll definitely adjust, but having a set date out there will help get some eyeballs on the group.

Beth (bethroann) | 9 comments I unfortunately will not be able to make it. I have class Monday through Thursday from 6-8:30 PM.

Do you think it might be beneficial to also have a facebook group? I think the world might be able to be spread faster that way too.

Has anyone thought about a good place to meet? I am not sure if I can make the September gathering, but I am going to try to.

I've set up a Doodle.com account, which several people I know swear by for easy scheduling for things like this, and let people set their availability so maybe we can pick some dates that work for the most of us going forward. It's too late for me to dive into it now, but I'll figure out how it works this weekend.

I'd like to try to meet somewhere more central rather than in the outer suburbs to try to make it easier for everyone to get to, but where is everyone else coming from? We've got two out to the east of the city, one from Grove City, I'm in the Dublin/Worthington area.

Beth (bethroann) | 9 comments What about one of the big coffee houses? Maybe Cup Of Joe?

Janelle Fila (janellefila) | 13 comments Here's a real good E. Lockhart interview that talks about WE WERE LIARS being on the NY Times bestsellers list and how a screenplay (written by the author) helped sell the movie rights.

Thanks for sharing the link to the podcast. It was really interesting.

Janelle Fila (janellefila) | 13 comments Rachel, I thought it was appropriate since we are going to be discussing this book) and Sara Zarr is one of my favorite authors. So glad you liked it.

As mentioned in the other thread, let's plan on meeting at Cover to Cover on 9/30 for the Mindy McGinnis event and then moving to a nearby coffee shop afterward?

That sounds great! I'll see you there!

Janelle Fila (janellefila) | 13 comments My apologies ladies, I'm not going to make it this evening. I have an interview as a (volunteer) reader for an online YA magazine that pinched into my schedule. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Rachel | 40 comments Mod
I plan on going tonight. I just finished Not a Drop to Drink. It was really good!

Brooke | 86 comments Mod
Sorry to hear that Janelle, but maybe we'll see you for either Laini Taylor or the October meeting? I'll get a tally out in the next day or so to see what October date works best for everyone.
