KARMA'S A BEACH
Duration: 1 August - 31 August 2019

Whether August where you live falls within summer or winter, who can deny the attraction of beaches, islands, the sound of waves, the scent of a salty breeze?

This challenge asks you to read books related to the beach.

1. Island Time. Read a book set on an island.
2. On the water Read a book that occurs on the ocean.
3. Beach bliss Read a book that takes place on or near a beach.
4. Lake effect Read a book that takes place near a lake.
5. Beach Read Read a book that has been listed either by Goodreads, Amazon, or some other book contributor as a good beach read.
6. Sand in between my toes Read a book that has the word "sand" in the title or features sand on the cover.

Completed #1 (island) - The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See. This was an excellent book! Well-written with interesting characters and about a time and place I had never heard of before. I love the haenyeo! Definitely worth reading! 5 stars

I'm considering joining this challenge, but I'm struggling to come up with what I could read for "book that takes place near a lake." By the Shores of Silver Lake by Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Lake House by Kate Morton, Louise Penny's A Rule Against Murder would be good choices, and I think The Blue Castle would count, but I've read them all! Any suggestions of excellent books that take place near a lake?

When I find myself in your shoes, I usually sign up with one less book for my challenge goal. If you find a book in time, you can always increase your goal. :D

When this happens to me, I usually search for a listopia on goodreads or a suggestion article from bookriot. I always find interesting reads with those two searches!

I'd like to try for 2 please

Just completed #2 (beach) - Does This Beach Make Me Look Fat?: True Stories and Confessions by Lisa Scottolini and Francesca Serratelli. Entertaining and light-hearted, I really enjoyed this collection of short essays. Some were hilarious and some missed the mark for me, but overall, I enjoyed the collection. Worth reading. 3.5 stars
