Although Scott Carey doesn’t look any different, he’s been steadily losing weight. There are a couple of other odd things, too. He weighs the same in his clothes and out of them, no matter how heavy they are. Scott doesn’t want to be poked and prodded. He mostly just wants someone else to know, and he trusts Doctor Bob Ellis.

In the small town of Castle Rock, the setting of many of King’s most iconic stories, Scott is engaged in a low grade—but escalating—battle with the lesbians next door whose dog regularly drops his business on Scott’s lawn. One of the women is friendly; the other, cold as ice. Both are trying to launch a new restaurant, but the people of Castle Rock want no part of a gay married couple, and the place is in trouble. When Scott finally understands the prejudices they face–including his own—he tries to help. Unlikely alliances, the annual foot race, and the mystery of Scott’s affliction bring out the best in people who have indulged the worst in themselves and others.

(view spoiler)[I read the first bit, like wow. It must be so creepy to weigh the same no matter if your naked or dressed, but to go down in weight every day is way more creepy. What if he reaches 0? Does he die? Does he simply vanish? I am curious. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[It must be so weird for all these people seeing him do so well in a running competition, whilst he is so heavy and out of shape. also, I really like how he tries to become friendly with his neighbours. (also throwing the race for her is pretty sweet) He seems like a nice person stuck in a really weird situation.

(view spoiler)[ It is kinda sad he just floated away into the air. I do really find it touching he spend his final time trying to bond with his neighbours and to get them accepted into the town. (Not that I like the people in the town, their attitude towards lesbians is horrible).
I like to think he spend his final weeks doing something that was very important to him. I heard a lot of people hating this story, but I have to admit I did really enjoy it and will probably give it four stars.

(view spoiler)[ Well that was a bit of a random story. Yes it was cute, I love how he first didn't want the dog but in the end totally fell in love with it. It totally helped him whilst he was grieving, he had someone to take care of. Someone he could bond with, it was really cute.

(view spoiler)[ good for Scott sticking up for his neighbors. I’m mad that no one likes them because of who they are. It’s nice he is trying to save their restaurant. I wonder how this will be linked to his weight (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[It was a nice gesture for Scott to let her win and that ended up breaking down all the walls. They form a friendship and they get finally get accepted by the town. (although screw them) They never figured out his illness and he floats away to die. Idk why he did that. He did his good deed and floated away (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Short story about a guy who reluctantly adopts a dog and helps with grief after the passing of his wife. Sweet sentiment, but I didn't get the point. Also, why is this book considered horror? Because of the gory alligator scene? (hide spoiler)]

Oh, okay. I get it. It's not 200 pages long. But the large print edition is 239 pages long so that should be able to count, right?

I mean, I know it is because that's the MPG. But not only am I not particularly scared, I'm also a little underwhelmed at the moment. I wonder who will win the race. I am betting my money on Scoot. Haha! I don't understand why can't we add a book if it has only a total of 6 illustrations. I find the rule stupid and yet understand where it comes from. It's weird.

But now that I have begun, I'll obviously read. I don't find much element of horror here, though. Not until chapter 3 at least. Or is it just me? LOL. (I hope I didn't have to include that part in the spoiler section too.)

That's quite possible, even though this was my first book by King. I wanted to pick up It this summer but I was horrified after seeing the size.
