It's time for our annual classic: Catch-22! Read along just in time to watch George Clooney and Kyle Chandler's Hulu adaptation!

message 2: by Robin (new)

Robin (rwaggs) | 16 comments I'm almost halfway and this is just not holding my attention. Not sure why - I love the absurd and this certainly fits, but it may be a DNF for me.

message 3: by Gaye (new) - added it

Gaye Hattem | 2 comments Unfortunately it was DNF for me as well. I just couldn’t get interested in it.

message 4: by Marisa (new)

Marisa (mickeymisa) | 17 comments It was a DNF for me. I picked up last summer’s June book A Piece is Cake and cant put it down.

Brenda Pegg | 1 comments I feel like this book spins and spins and doesn't go anywhere. Just could not get into it.

Starlight Wymore The book is very deep. If you like quick reads, you are going to miss the messages the author is trying to convey through his use of satire and hyperbole. Yes, it is humorous, but the author uses the humor to highlight tragic flaws in our society, particularly in our military branches, but also in our government and society as a whole. Personally, I think it is excellent. Thank you for selecting it.

Kelsey I probably would not have picked up this book if it had not been a book club selection for this year, and I ended up really enjoying it. I found myself chuckling at parts and feeling queasy at others. I agree that the book is more about the message than the individual plot points, and it was the meaning that made the book for me. Looking back, I wish that I would have made a list of the characters as I got some of them mixed up as there were so many. I recently started watching the Hulu adaptation. I'm enjoying that so far, and it might have helped me initially follow the story better had I watched it prior to reading the book.
