Well, here's that excerpt! There were so many to choose from!“This has gone too far. They’re too strong for us, and they’re going to make the world fall to ashes, all of us with them. The time to act is now.”
Mauve glanced at the other woman, noting how rigid her stance was. How could they speak with so much hatred of other humans? Perhaps they didn’t even consider them--her--that anymore.
“I agree with President Elana,” a young man said quickly, his eyes darting around anxiously. “They’re not superheroes. All they’ve ever done is make life a living hell for all us normal people. Think of all the costs, the pain, the mistrust. If it is true that Japan has a plan about what to do with them, the UK is all ears, just like America.”
Japan, the UK, and America. Three of the most influential countries of the 24th century. How much worse could this get? They were going to make her kind illegal.
Mauve’s hands tingled, itching to release poison. But that would prove them all correct, right?
The Japanese president rose, his gaze thoughtful. “These enhanced individuals pose a threat to normal living. They’re highly volatile and easily lose control. On top of that, not all of them are looking out for the interests of others.” He flicked his hand, a large, holographic image of a city appearing. Buildings were demolished, water and fire mixing through the rubble.
She remembered that incident. Elemental quadruplets had snapped, razing the earth in the wake of their madness. Sometimes it happened. Too much power would be given to an individual, most often ending in insanity. They had taken out eight cities before being stopped.
“The Elementals incident is just one of many that earth has experienced. These people have cost countries billions of dollars and thousands of lives. Our solution? Get rid of the gene that often mutates into enhanced powers.”

I only have about 3,000 words written, but it's fun! The story will follow three people: Rev, Tare, and Kanjo (Jo-Jo). The story will get pretty violent, but will be clean
Another update from chapter one of Nemesis! It is in the POV of one of my favorite characters, Rev. She's so sweet but strong, loyal but skeptical, and an all-around sweetheart. This is only the extremely rough first draft so bear with me. Rev hated dreaming.
Sure, she could manipulate the dreams of others, but not her own. And how she wished she could change this one.
She was in the Arena. Knives, shotguns, traps . . . bits of human flesh were strewn everywhere. One body was completely darkness-consumed.
A Nightwraith.
There was one here? The Nations had been trying to get their hands on one for decades. The ability was one of the most powerful and terrifying ones.
A knife whizzed by her ear, Rev freezing up instead of running.
A lone figure stood in front of her, dark shadows swaying and swirling around the small person. Her hair was cut close to her head, uneven and jagged. Blood oozed from numerous cuts and bruises.
Rev couldn’t move, but she didn’t want to. This girl--who couldn’t be much older than herself--wasn’t trying to kill her. The young woman’s eyes were completely black, matching what was left of her hair. Her skin was a light brown, though it was hard to tell under all the dirt.
She was hauntingly and horrifyingly beautiful.
“Please,” she whispered, her voice far deeper than Rev expected. “Save me. They’re going to use me to do something terrible. But first, they’re testing me. Please. For the Nemesis.”
Her eyes expanded, the air becoming increasingly cold. Rev noticed a man behind her, his fists glowing with energy. The girl whirled, darkness creeping across the ground as a terrifying shriek rose from her.
The man stood no chance.

Once upon a time, the world needed heroes . . .
Back when the world was at peace, the Nemesis were known as superheroes. Humans endowed with supernatural gifts that they protected the world with. But that world is gone.
The Nemesis are hunted, and their only way to true freedom is to win in the Arena. Succeed, and you’ll finally be treated as an equal. Fail, and you’re dead. Which might not be the worst thing to suffer.
But some of the Nemesis have had enough. They’re angry, and they’re no longer going to allow themselves to be trodden on. They’re fighting back, and everyone knows those who are broken have nothing left to lose.
The time for superheroes is over.
