(Chapters 5 - 8)

Hello, what are your thoughts on these chapters?

Nico (nicoreads) | 43 comments This was a bit hit and miss for me. Chapter 5 was hilarious in a way, especially when it seems (since we never get to hear from Wormwood themselves to known the contrary) that they may be enjoying certain aspects of their posting a bit TOO much (the alcohol?). It's a lot darker subject matter in general given that while satirical, war and pacificism is brought up. And while it never inherently states that pacifism is wrong/conscientious objectors are wrong, by making it possibly a "positive" for Screwtape and Wormwood's mission that the "patient" may be embracing pacifism it could be telling. Not quite sure where they're going with that.

I agree, I am enjoying it more than I thought I would (which is why it took me so long to actually start listening to it) but I don’t know if I would actually want to sit down and physically read it.

I think pacifism can be "wrong" when you stay silent in an oppressive situation, because you are allowing the oppressor to keep doing what they're doing. I think in that sense it can be wrong. But that doesn’t mean being eager to go into a war is right. I think this does a good job of getting a conversation started at least, and getting you thinking about what right and wrong is, and how that changes from situation to situation.
