D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Latifa wrote: "If you could interview any of your characters, who would it be?"

Sawyer Weston from the Illusion Series. Sometimes it's hard to convince myself he isn't real. LOL

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Sarah wrote: "What has been the most difficult book for you to write?"

Just an Illusion - EP - it was the hardest but also the most rewarding.

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Shayay wrote: "What is the last book you read that made you cry?"

Ohh this is a hard one - I cry easily. Crying but not sobbing - the Epoch/Transcend duet by Jewel Anne.

Sob through a box of tissues - It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover.

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Aly is so frigging bored wrote: "Which character was the hardest to write? Which was the easiest? Why?"

I think the easiest character is Bexley from Dating Roulette. We have some similar traits and she spoke to me often.
The hardest - even though he's still my favorite is Sawyer Weston from the Illusion Series. Sawyer is layered and complex but in all the best ways. And when he lets you see what he's made of - it's completely worth it.

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Sarah wrote: "What author inspires you?"

I'm inspired by so many for different reasons. Each author I read brings something new and incredible to the table. I don't think I could pick just one. They're all amazing in their own ways.

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Rachel wrote: "Your a new author to me so what book should I start with? 🙂"

That would probably depend on what you like. :)
If you like stand alones - Dating Roulette is a fun read and it releases tomorrow.
If you like series = Dive into the Illusion Series. It's probably my personal favorite of all my books. It's also complete so if you like to binge read you're set. Right now it's only available on Kindle Unlimited. Just an Illusion - Side A is free on Amazon this week. But it will be available on all retailers the first week of August if you aren't a kindle reader.

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Zsuzsa wrote: "Do you have any favorite characters from your books?"

So many! Sawyer, Noah, and Darren from The Illusion Series.
Connor, Mike, and Jake from The Acceptance Series
Zack, Pete, and Rylee from Chasing Cassidy and Sharing Rylee
Baxter and Declan from The Evolution of Us and Room 13

There really isn't too many of my characters I don't love. LOL

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Karen wrote: "Do you listen to music when you’re writing?"

Not usually. I tend to need total concentration and have to block out any and all noise so I can hear the voices in my head (that makes me sound insane I know)
But sometimes I can't concentrate at all and if I turn on music that I don't know and won't sing along to I do write much better.
I guess it depends on how creative I am that day?

Jennifer (jennifershiflett) | 188 comments Do you reread books? If so, what is your most read book?

message 26: by D. (new)

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Jennifer wrote: "Do you reread books? If so, what is your most read book?"

Not typically. My reading time is limited these days and when I'm writing and editing I have to reread my books often - which lessens my reading time even more.
I do have two favorite books I have read multiple times (just not lately) To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and Autumn Street by Lois Lowry.

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments J. wrote: "If you could be any book character for a day, who would you choose and why?"

Wow this is a great question but also extremely difficult! I think I'd love to be Freya from Sarah J Maas Court of Thorns and Roses series. Not in the beginning but after she realizes her true power and figures out which man she's meant to be with. I'd love to be part of a magical realm.

message 28: by D. (new)

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Carolina wrote: "What's the most easy part when you write a book?"

Writing the chapter headings lol.
I'm not sure there's an easy part but with every book there is sort of a feel good moment. It's usually past the halfway point where everything starts coming together and I finally realize that all the words prior weren't a waste and have actually led to a pretty decent story. Until I hit that point, it's completely nerve wracking.

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Nicole wrote: "What are you currently working on?"

Nothing but that's only going to last another couple of days. Next up on the list is a holiday novella from The Illusion Series.

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Katrina wrote: "What is the best perk from being an author?"

Meeting so many new people from all over the world. It's crazy but in the best way. I've made so many new friends that I never would have had the opportunity to get to know before.

message 33: by D. (new)

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Nicole wrote: "What is your favorite genre other than romance?"

Probably suspense/mystery. I love Patricia Cornwell and Dean Koontz.

D. Kelly (dkellyauthor) | 18 comments Antonella wrote: "Hello...

I have one book where the characters go through something tragic. I cried buckets and had to bring the book to a point where I'd mended my own heart and was happy again. Hearing the same sentiments from my readers made it all worthwhile.
