Anthony Whitt | 31 comments Cold Hard Ride (Hard Land to Rule Trilogy, #2) by Anthony Whitt

Hard Land to Rule started this trilogy, raking in five star reviews. Cold Hard Ride now continues this gripping tale of men battling inner demons and devious adversaries. Austin is no longer friendly. Powerful politicians in the frontier town pursue their own prosperity at the expense of the less fortunate. Beat into submission, honest men are hard to find.

A rugged frontiersman from the hill country rides headlong into this caldron of betrayal and greed. Overwhelmed by treachery running rampant in the streets, he must battle the odds to right things for the sake of friends and the survival of his family. With a narcissistic serial murderer stalking him and an enticing widow trying to seduce him, it won’t be an easy task.

All the while, his loved ones back home are without his protection and in danger from raiding Comanche. Not sure where to turn, he must find it in himself to overcome the threats that shadow him in the hellhole called Austin.

I'm happy to announce this second novel in the Hard Land to Rule Trilogy is now available. The pages are filled with a captivating story that crosses over into several genres. It's a bit of a romance rolled into a western filled with passion, danger and action. In short, it's a tale that anyone could enjoy.

Elisabeth | 32 comments Corral Nocturne A Novella by Elisabeth Grace Foley

My latest release and first historical romance is now available! Corral Nocturne is a short and sweet retelling of the beloved Cinderella story set on the Montana prairies:

Life on her brother’s ranch is lonely for Ellie Strickland. Ed’s ungracious manners and tight-fisted habits keep visitors away and his mother and sister close to home. But when Cole Newcomb, son of the wealthiest rancher in the county, meets Ellie by chance, he is struck by an unexpected impulse to rescue her from her solitude—and Ellie’s lonely summer is transformed.

When Cole asks her to go with him to the Fourth of July dance, Ellie is determined that nothing, from an old dress to Ed’s sour temper, will stand in her way. By the time the Fourth of July fireworks go off at midnight, will they herald only more heartache, or maybe—just maybe—a dream come true?

Novella, approximately 21,000 words.

Lloyd | 28 comments "Six Western Love Stories", just published on Amazon for the Kindle, 99 cents -- http://www.amazon.com/Western-Love-St...

These are not ordinary Western romances — they are as wild, as bitter, as sweet as the Old West itself . . . raunchy at times, violent at times, heartbreaking at times, pulsing with the high spirits of a rambunctious frontier:

One Kiss — the ghost of an old love visits the mind of a feckless wanderer and redeems a lifetime of regret . . .

Hidden Canyon — a silent film star makes her first Western on location in Arizona and learns about the preposterous snares of Hollywood and the hard-bitten charms of a real cowboy . . .

Decline and Fall — a man carries a book in his saddlebags and reads it over and over again, until he finds a woman who understands why . . .

Young Love — a sixteen year-old preacher’s son and a twenty-two year-old whore discover the miracle of impetuous flapdoodle . . .

Romance — a clueless outlaw courts a respectable schoolmarm and nearly pays for it with his life . . .

My Hero — a fourteen year-old girl is rescued from hopeless servitude by a fearless gunfighter, who teaches her what true gallantry is . . .

Elisabeth | 32 comments Wanderlust Creek and Other Stories by Elisabeth Grace Foley
My new Western short story collection, Wanderlust Creek and Other Stories, releases next week on March 2nd—but for this last week of pre-orders I'm having a 99-cent sale on the ebook edition! (It'll also be available in paperback).

Book description: From the author of The Ranch Next Door and Other Stories come six more short stories exploring the joys, heartaches and laughter of life against the backdrop of the Old West. In “Single-Handed,” a gunfighter’s courage comes in doubt when he refuses to explain to his friends the real reason he backed down from a fight. The capable proprietress of the busiest eating-house in town handles a day of disasters large and small in the light-hearted “The Rush at Mattie Arnold’s,” while in “Room Service,” a hotel night clerk finds himself in on odd position after he allows an exhausted traveler to stay in a reserved room. And in the title story, the novella-length “Wanderlust Creek,” a young rancher and his wife struggle to hold onto their land and their dreams in the face of adversity from weather, enemies—and even doubts of each other.

Approximately 53,000 words.

message 19: by Maria (new)

Maria (beachwalkermari) Amy Hale Auker wrote "The Story Is the Thing" and it was released in December so I think that would still be considered a new release.

I read it and I loved it. Then again, I really like this author's writing style and her subject. She writes of the American West as it is today, the people who live a ranching life. She has fully developed characters that are easy to be drawn in by and a story that will keep you turning pages.

I had started a discussion of the book on another thread and thought I would share it here as well. It's on Amazon at http://ctt.ec/3G_Ca

Check it out!

G.P. Hutchinson | 2 comments Strong Convictions An Emmett Strong Western by G.P. Hutchinson

I'm extremely pleased with the response my new classic-style Western is drawing from the reading public. In Strong Convictions: An Emmett Strong Western I've fused the terse style of the modern suspense/thriller with many of the conventions of a classic Western in an effort to produce a story that moves forward at an exciting pace without stripping the frontier setting of its color and flavor.

Hope you'll give it a try and let me know what you think. Much obliged!

The 9th Annual National Indie Excellence® Awards have just selected Strong Convictions: An Emmett Strong Western as their 2015 Westerns category winner. The novel’s Texas Ranger hero must overcome his reluctance to unholster his six-gun if he is to avenge his brother’s death and rescue his forbidden love interest.
