Ed Erwin | 341 comments I read Doom Patrol: Book Four, or more accurately, I read all the single issues of Doom Patrol written by Rachel Pollack since the collected edition isn't available.

It was weird, which is what one wants from Doom Patrol! Notable for the first trans superhero Coagula (with the power to coagulate!) Also notable for connecting Dorothy's super powers to her menstrual cycle.

And 'Mr. Super Crotch', sorry, I mean 'Codpiece', has to be seen to be believed.

Devon Munn (devonmm) | 119 comments I finished Joe The Barbarian today and it was pretty decent. I'm also going to start the second volime of Coffin Hill and maybe another Vertigo comic as well as one i added to my to read shelf

Lenny (lennylenlen) | 158 comments I jumped back into Star Wars with Star Wars, Vol. 2: Showdown on the Smuggler's Moon...originally because my Kindle/ComiXology Unlimited freaked out on the plane and it was the only book I could read, but still pretty good; and Heathen Vol. 1, a cool fantasy story and my first from Vault Comics. (I've written reviews for both!)

Speaking of Heathen I'm really enjoying the recommendations from this group - it's getting me out of my comfort zone with a bunch of cool and different titles. Also a lot of them are available on Unlimited which is great. Sitting down now to decide between starting Motor Crush, Crowded, or Fence vol 2. (read: I'm going to cave and read Fence.)

Yesss! So glad you're reading new stuff :D - My recommendation of the three books you have to read: Fence vol. 2. I'm super in love with that series!

Read Silver Surfer: Black #1-2 - Holy shit, what a trippy book. Tradd Moore is a MAD MAN with his art.

Also read the end of Age of X-Man - Age of X-Man: Omega. It's a fitting end leading into House of X. I'm just plain excited.

Kris Ritchie (kriswritchie) | 27 comments Been reading through the Buffyverse Season 10: Loving the Buffy half/Angel & Faith is kind of meh.

Also read Go Go Power Rangers volume 3 and Gideon Falls volume 2!

I read that to mean a movie version of A Contract With God is coming out soon. That sounded unlikely. But there is, in fact, a movie version that is "in the works" now.

Seems like a weird choice for a film, since it is four separate stories that are only connected by a location.

Inga | 34 comments I've finished All the Answers by Michael Kupperman and I really enjoyed it! As someone who grew up in Eastern Europe, there were many things I didn't know about the US at that time.

Pride of Bagdad sounds interesting! I'm gonna check it out as well

Whitney (The Cover Collector) | 222 comments Ugh, my reading was put on the back burner this week.

-Crossed, vol. 4
-Hajime no Ippo, vols. 30-32

message 21: by Lenny (new)

Lenny (lennylenlen) | 158 comments Totally agree about Contract with God. I can't see it working as a film at all unless they take one vignette and really flesh it out. Even then I don't see audiences going for it as much as I love it personally.

Been reading a lot this week thanks to traveling - Comixology Unlimited saved me from having to lug a ton of books around. I made it through Megahex, volume ones of Motor Crush, Flavor, Samurai Jack, The Massive, and I reread Alex + Ada to start volume two. I'm also almost done with the first volume of Ultimate Spider-Man (Miles Morales' origin) which is fantastic.

My understanding is they are doing it as 4 separate stories with 4 separate directors. It is a nice book. I just hate it being sometimes called the first graphic novel, because it isn't even a novel!

I'm reading through the first 7 volumes of The Unwritten, which is quite nice. I'd probably enjoy it more if I read it more slowly.

Read The Death of Superman which is exceedingly dull unless you really like fight scenes, which I don't. Anyway, if you should happen to see a bird or a plane, it probably really is a bird or a plane because superman is dead now!

Also finally reading Paper Girls. My in-real-life comics club cheered me on for that. Made it through 4 trades and will rush through the next 2 soon. It's like yummy candy.

And The Book of Leviathan. WEIRD-O-LICIOUS! Hard to believe that was actually published in newspapers.

There's ANOTHER House of X? Boy does Marvel love recycling titles xD I'm so out of loop with the X-books that I'd probably be confused by it anyway.

That was House of M, but close enough.

They don't call us the house of ideas for nothing!

That's Marvel for you. They also love to renumber series every 12 to 18 months so you have no idea where to begin with a story.

I LOVED IT, ahhh Hickman is SO GOOD + Larraz art is great + I am a sucker for X-Men = A good time in Comics

message 31: by Inga (new)

Inga | 34 comments I finished A Walk Through Hell. The whole story is only 12 issues long.

While I loved volume 1, the rest of it was a bit disappointing.

message 32: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (The Cover Collector) | 222 comments Weekly reading:

-Flowers of Evil, vols. 1-11
-Fushigi Yugi, vol. 1

-One Piece, vol. 33

Ed Erwin | 341 comments On a whim, picked up "Talk Bernie to Me", though, truth be told, I do not want to talk politics up in here.

Some cool cover art on it, as on Barack The Barbarian from the same publisher.

Also read Fatherland, which is a memoir from a woman whose father was a terrorist who bombed supporters of the Yugoslavian government. Includes information about Yugoslavian history especially around WWII which was interesting because I was unaware of most of that messy situation.
