I know that most of this group has not read The Princess Bride, so what are your favorite quotes from other books?
Fahrenheit 451
: "So now do you see why books are hated and feared? They show the pores in the face of life. The comfortable people want only wax moon faces, poreless, hairless, expressionless. We are living in a time when flowers are trying to live on flowers, instead of growing on good rain and black loam. Even fireworks, for all their prettiness, come from the chemistry of the earth. Yet somehow we think we can grow, feeding on flowers and fireworks, without completing the cycle back to reality." Gosh I really love this book. It takes place in a dystopian future where books and reading are illegal, and the people are being brainwashed into total imbeciles. And the journey Guy Montag goes on is so deep and really gets you thinking about the world we live in today, and the "what ifs" of a world without books. And it's quotes like these that spark these thoughts. (Of course this "journey" Montag took included some law-breaking; after all, what would a novel be without the illegal reading of classics that have been forsaken in order to be burnt and forgotten?)
I have one from Jane Austen."The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid."
So true!!!!
One of my favorite quotes is "Anyone can sit in the rain, but it takes a lot of courage to get up and dance when everyone else is wishing for the sun."
This is a quote from the book I'm attempting to write so please give me credit if you use it.
I love writing. It's almost like dancing, you can't really control it, so you flow with the current. When you try to fight you end up lost with a crumbled story.
Exactly!! And I love that smilie because I also love to dance!!! But yes, and sadly people of our generation (at least where I live) are in a completely different ocean where they don't even feel the pull of writing.
Right. That why I'm really glad I found this website where I can talk to people who understand my love for reading and writing.

Hold the phone! You like to dance girlie? What kind of style?

Yes!!! Even though I don't prefer the music, I love hip-hop, but I love most dances like ballet, tap, jazz, freestyle, I do almost anything!!!!
A couple of my favorites:(Plug from one of my books)
"As with all stories, they must start somewhere; often beginning with a notable deed or achievement. With him, we will start with his first:
He survived"
And from another wonderful series, a S/F fantasy cross over:
“The thing to recall about Dragons is that it takes a special person to deal with them at all. If you lie to them they will steal from you. If you attack them without cause they will dismember you. If you run from them they will laugh at you.
It is thus best to deal calmly, openly and fairly with Dragons: Give them all they buy and no more or less, and they will do the same by you. Stand at their back and they will stand at yours. Always remember that a Dragon is first a Dragon and only then a friend, a partner, a lover.
Never assume that you have discovered a Dragon's weak point until it is dead and forgotten, for joy is fleeting and a Dragon's revenge is forever.” —Sharon Lee
“I can do anything I want. Be with anyone I want.
And it'll be my choice.”
― Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me
“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.” ― Audrey Hepburn

"Drop your sword." - One of my favorites from the book.
