The ending!!!! OMG! Very few books end exactly how I wanted them to, and with all the loose ends tied up perfectly! Glenna and Terry ending up together, at least it's assumed they will. Also Merrin when everything was revealed. And that bloody tree house! Ahh soooooo many feels!! In short, I loved it!!I have made a review video on what I thought about this book. I pretty much loved this ending. It's your classic bad-guy-loses scenario in how things play out with Lee, made all the more satisfying by the gloriously macabre he meets his end, which is just what he deserved. I loved the kind of cat and mouse thing Ig and Lee had going towards the end, and the ending with the Tree House of the Mind; so nicely done. But seriously, who expected that twist with Merrin? I sure didn't. Didn't see that coming at all, definitely teared up a little at that.
Overall just really satisfied with this ending and with this book as a whole. I'm excited to read more Joe Hill in the future, for sure.
Finally finished! My thoughts are all over the place. I struggled to rate this book. I kept going back and forth 4 star - 3 star. I finally decided to give it 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed the beginning and was motivated to read on but once it got to the past it slowed down for me and I was hating all the characters. It never gave me any closure of why he had the horns. Like they said he did bad things but what bad things? Did I miss something? All Ig wanted was revenge for the death of his girlfriend. What bad thing did he do in the past but love her and get dumped in a bad way. Plan to watch the movie maybe it will explain it better?
