Cheryl (cherylllr) I do not know if we're reading the original Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking or Quiet Power: The Secret Strengths of Introverted Kids. Until I saw the image of the second book (on RPL's website today) I did not know it existed. I will visit the library soon and check it out!

Meanwhile, I read the original book when it was new and was *very* impressed. I really wish that I could attend the meeting on July 20th and discuss it with you-all.

One reason I appreciate it so much is that Cain makes the distinction between being Shy and being Introverted. I'm not particularly shy, in that I have anxiety talking to ppl, but I am very introverted, in that I prefer smaller groups, quieter environments, less stimulation, and down time.

How about you? Or how about people you know, love, or work with? Are you shy? Is your child not shy, but introverted and easily over-stimulated? Do you value your coworkers who aren't as vocal and outgoing?

Cheryl (cherylllr) Ok, we're reading the original version, for adults. The one with, I assume, extra science (and I mean that as praise :). The kid's version appeals to me too; I'll have to try to read it from my other library.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Did any interesting ideas come out of the discussion irl for this?
