Tarissa, I love George MacDonald! Have not read any of his fantasy yet though. Have this on the shelf along with At the Back of the North Wind and Lillith. Have you read many of his books?
Peggy, this is actually my first time reading anything by George MacDonald. A friend had just recently recommended The Princess and the Goblin to me, and it sounded like the perfect tale to read for this challenge. I'm also going to read another of his later this week, while I'm on a roll. Although I've very new to his works, I've truly enjoyed it!
I've made some great progress in the challenge this past week! Plus, I remembered another book that I hadn't included on my "finished" list before. So, the following are now finished for the 2014 challenge. I just need to squeeze in 3 more Scottish books for the year!
3. The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald
4. The Remedy: Robert Koch, Arthur Conan Doyle, and the Quest to Cure Tuberculosis by Thomas Goetz
5. The Golden Key by George MacDonald
I've just finished my 8th and final Scottish book for the year. Decided I should update my list here. Enjoy!
6. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
7. The Sign of Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
8. A Wreath of Snow: A Victorian Christmas Novella by Liz Curtis Higgs

Here's what I've finished reading this year so far in the challenge:
.... and I'm currently reading The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald.
My original goal was 8 books for the challenge, and although I don't have much accomplished on my list so far, I think I can still fit the rest in by the end of 2014. :)
