I'd like to nominate Caucasia by Danzy Sennaedit: this is also published as From Caucasia, With Love
I suggest/nominate The Hairdresser of Harare by Tendai Huchu.I don't expect this to be chosen but if your interested in Africa and "modernday" life there you should read it anyway!

Rules:
1) In order to option a book, insert the title and author here in the discussion. One book per person can be offered up, please.
2) In order for the book to be considered, it MUST be seconded by another member of the group. A given member may second a particular book ONCE. If you optioned a book, obviously you cannot second it. FROM NOW ON, we can only allow for EVERY BOOK MEMBER a TOTAL of THREE secondeds. We want all our members to take part but we also want all book options to have a fighting chance and allow for the greatest amount of diversity!
3) The five books with the greatest number of "secondeds" get to move onto a poll that I'll create in due time.
4) At that poll, people will vote for which book they want to read.
5) And, of course, the book with the greatest number of votes wins.
This first poll will be open for a week until Tuesday, September 16th at 10 PM EST. Also, please keep in mind that, while we did want to promote writers of color who are not well known, It is recommended that you look into the accessibility of the book you want to option BEFORE you option it. If it's not easily accessible, it will have to be omitted. So, without further ado, send us your options!
