At the beginning, when the remote French village was named. He never would have expected Abigail to search it out.
Exactly. When the professor mentioned he came from a remote village in France, I figured it would have something to do with the murder. When someone mentioned the places that Abigail had visited on her journey to France, it solidified my guess that the killer was the professor.
At some point when they kept repeating how Americans can't teach French with the proper accent. It was mentioned too many times to not be an important clue ;)
