Nicky نیکی | 2 comments Hello, I’m looking for some romances featuring a male alien and female human that are emotionally intense and angsty. Big plus if the heroine is insecure or feels that the hero loves another or doesn’t want her.

Laz the Sailor (laz7) Last Hour of Gann is all this and more (and 600+pp).

Nameless Fate is pretty gritty.

r just check my scifi shelf, it's got a good amount of romantica on it.

I recommend Her Alien Commander by Ashe Barker. It is exactly as you are describing. I have read it twice so far. Her Alien Commander by Ashe Barker

Valan's Bondmate (Zarronian Warriors, #1) by Mardi Maxwell Pythen (Galactic Order #1) by Erin Raegan Cornering Carmen (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #5) by S.E. Smith Jakke (The Azziarin, #1) by Hannah Davenport

Valan's Bondmate (Zarronian Warriors #1) by Mardi Maxwell completely gutted me. Seriously, it's the most painful alien romance I've ever read. The heroine isn't human, but she is a different species from the hero and he definitely starts out not wanting her as his mate.

Pythen (Galactic Order #1) by Erin Raegan is the 1st book in a series that's a pretty solid match for the angst and some cultural norms about fidelity that cause major issues for his human mate. There is no actual cheating but the hero's culture has always included mistresses. I'd try this suggestion for sure if you haven't already read it. It gets even better with each book and Home World #2 is a 5-star book for me.

Cornering Carmen (Dragon Lords of Valdier #5) by S.E. Smith is a bit angsty. Their mating has a rocky start because the heroine is so stubborn and still grieving her first husband who died back on Earth before she met her alien mate. I think you could read this as a standalone if you want because each book features a different couple.

Jakke (Azziarin #1) by Hannah Davenport might work too.

Last Hour of Gann is one amazing SFR. I agree. But I'd classify this as being more tragic than angsty. I found the heroine strong, capable, resourceful, despite all the issues she encountered. She didn't have many angsty moments. She never stopped to bemoan her fate. She just plowed forward. Respect.

And yes, Her Alien Commander is perfect for what you were (are) looking for. Sorry didn't think of it sooner.

BJ (barbararhodes) | 2 comments Saving Askara is a great scifi story where the alien H is horrified by the 'alien' human's appearance and eating habits. It's amusing but there was considerable angst due the h being a very strong and real life person, who falls in love and knows that some of their individual needs cannot be met by the other. They accepted it, but it was a cause of concern for her. And it is HFN at end of book 1 - more to come. It was fantastic.
