The Walking Dead
question
Do you prefer the Tv series or Comics?
I tend to prefer the written material over TV or movies, but not in this case. The comics are well done and I've read most of them, but the characters (in the comics) are often sort of over-the-top, one example, the Governor. There is nothing redeemable about him in the comics and in the TV show, well, he does have a moment here or there. (When it comes to kids, yeah he does.)
So in this case I am all on board for the TV show, and looking forward to the other 'spin-off' that AMC is planning featuring characters living in the same 'world,' but in a diff. location.

I also prefer the TV show. I'm biased, however, because I started watching the show before I read the graphic novels. I'm intentionally keeping myself a few paces behind the show in my reading, even though they are so different. I tend to view them as different stories and enjoy them both separately.
Though, without the graphic novels there would be no show. So yay for graphic novels!

I don't think I could choose, since they are quite different (and I'm super indecisive), but both the graphic novels, and the tv show are fab! I found the graphic novels more violent (the irony) and the story more fast-paced, but I think I feel more emotionally attached to the characters in the TV show...
I think I have to go with the graphic novels. I can binge read them and I can't binge watch the show. It is too "heavy."
I prefer the tv show; but that might be because I watched that before reading the comics. I feel like the tv characters are more realistic/believable. I am currently reading the novels about the Governor's back story, and those are also really good and more believable than the comics in my opinion.
I kind of prefer both (I know that goes against this question in a way but oh well!). This is because I respect them both each to their individual medium. I see why the tv series made changes (mostly to draw out the drama with the characters like for Shane and his fate for example) and also see how well they were originally done in the comic. I just recently got into the comics and found them surprisingly realistic in terms of sense of character and other qualities. Now because of that I hope to have a marathon watching of the show because I just can't get enough!
I've only watched season 1 of the show (so far) so I don't know how good of a judge I can be on this. I personally love the graphic novel and could not understand why the show is so different. I felt like the book has so much going on that it could have been filmed the way it was written for the most part. Reading the book first might be making me lean more towards prefering the book over the show.
I enjoy the show, but I like the far darker tone of the graphic novel.
Oddly enough, I prefer the TV series. I just think it is better done. This is not to knock the graphic novels because they are excellent. For some reason, I think the TV series flows better and has done a superb job of character development. The Characters have deeper elements and not such caricatures of people that the graphic novels seem to have.
The funny thing is I never like the TV or movie versions better than the novels. The only other TV version I like more than the novel was The Prisoner (the original version), although the Lord of the Rings movies come very close.
