Arya sat on her silver tripod, her embroidery in hand. Her long blonde hair was twisted back off her face and pulling into a low bun on the back of her head. She was humming softly to herself, in that pretty way she always did when she was alone. She had come outside to avoid her older brother, the King, who was in the foulest of moods on that day. Not that she blamed him, but she wished for peace and quiet.
The slight trickle of the brook that ran down the centre of the garden was therapeutic and nice on her ears. She smiled to herself as a little red butterfly landed briefly on her knee before fluttering away again. Yes, Arya Fallon was the picture of a beautiful girl, the pinnacle of a princess, and the one Alexander trusted most. Oh the absolute joys.

Esme, sat beside her older sister, delecitly picking roses, her nimble fingers covered with fancy hand gloves that cut right before her wrists, as she plucked a rose from the gsrden she placed it in the basket growing with flowers that she would put in room, Emse sighed happily admiring her sister
Arya looked down at her younger sister and began to speak, in a low, polite voice she only ever lost when under extreme emotions. "How are your dance lessons going Esme?" she inquired, "I know everything has been a bit hectic lately, but it is best if you try and retain normality, and in your education it best. I was speaking to Alexander just the other day, and it is the general consensus that you begin accumulating suitors soon. I have 43 possible suitors, and soon many men from across the kingdom will flock to the palace to vie for your hand. I won't have your brother's mood swings holding you back, justified as they may be." She returned to her embroidery, examining the fox she was sewing into the black silk handkerchief.
Esme pursed her lips, as she listened to her, she fiddled with the fabric of her dress on her lap as she spoke. " dance lessons are going accordingly, my education is doing well thanks to your tutoring my dear sister." she smiled up at her sister "and my normality is as best I can do I shall not be someone else when 43 suitors and more plan to come and vie for my hand." she said softly speaking as formally as possibly recalling her lessons prior to this afteroon.
"Good girl," said Arya softly, "Your eldest brother and I will be going out tomorrow afternoon, so you are to listen to your tutors." Alexander often took Arya on walks or little trips to keep her sweet, and although she knew he didn't particularly enjoy them, she certainly did. She liked how he invested time into her out of all her siblings. When the others married, they would depart and live with their consecutive families, but Arya would stay right where she was. She held up the handkerchief in the air and examined it closely. "I made this for our brother, do you like it, Esme?"
Esme tucked a stray hair, that had fallen out of intricate braids atop her head as Arya spoke she.nodded looking up at the fabric she held out. "its lovely a."
Esme's lips parted in an o shape "does Alex know? are there plans for what's to come?"
Esme's lips parted in an o shape "does Alex know? are there plans for what's to come?"
"In regards to your marriage?" asked Arya, "Of course he does, he'll be the one who decides ultimately who gets to stay and who goes. When I marry, I expect you will inherit the rest of my Suitors too. If you have concerns voice them to me, he will listen."
Esme pondered this for a while chewing the inside of her cheek "and when shall all this come to pass?" she asked
"Soon," replied Arya, "Alexander is fairly decisive. I shall be betrothed any day now and then the attention will turn to you. You mustn't forget though, everyone except us is our enemy. We Fallons must stick together and trust no one, not even the Queen herself."
Esme nodded solemnly, as her thoughts whirled, "yes, of course ayra. no one but our family. " she said softly
"So even if you're sent away," she said, "You mustn't let the glamour of a new home and husband make you forget where your real loyalties lie. Aureus comes before all, and Clan Fallon before even that." She folded the handkerchief neatly and patted Esme on the head softly. "You'll be a good wife," said Arya was assurance, "They say you're unruly now, but you're just young. I was that age too once, yet they seem to have forgotten. Once I stabbed Alexander in the hand with a fork. He contemplated having me executed, but blamed it on hormones. Just as well, really."
esme giggled, fixing her braids, she stood "I'm afriad I might aleays be as unruly. and I shall never forget where my loyalty lies, but I will has other loyalties with marriage dear sister."
Arya stood up too and looked at her in seriousness. "But you have to remember, marriage is for convenience. The second you become inconvenient to your husband, they shall become inconvenient in return. So remain convenient, little sister, or we all shall suffer." She said this, but the same applied to her, even if they were remaining in the palace. She hoped for everyone's sake she wasn't barren or something equally as awful.
esme knew what her sister was afriad if as any young princess about to be married off, was they needed to be of use for their hisband and kingdoms, she nodded " your perfect any man will love you. and you have nothing to fear. I sha do my best for everyone."
"A pretty face and practiced hand only goes so far," she said, "Eventually, one's true self is revealed, and we best hope it suffices once it does. You hide your playfulness, me my evilness. Let us hope we can choose the right ones to deal with that."
esme squeezed her sisters hand and smiled softly "all us siblings are a bit wicked.." she giggled "I believe our dear king will choose someone suitable for the both of us"
