Sussex II State Prison is a maximum security prison in Waverly, VA that needs your art supplies and books (especially water color), and urban fiction!

This facility is in the process of starting an arts program, and any water color or other art supplies or books are much appreciated. Urban fiction (particularly Carl Weber and Eric Jerome Dickey), fantasy fiction of any current author, Westerns, black history in America, and general info books like world almanac/world records/Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader (but no encyclopedias please) would all be appreciated.

-Hardbacks and softbacks are both okay.

What not to send:
-No encyclopedias please due to limited space.
-No paperbook romance (oversupplied in this genre).
-Comics and magazines are not needed.
-The usual stuff. No racially charged material, no violently or sexually graphic material, nothing that teaches someone how to hurt someone else.

No donation form is required.

Mail to:
Sussex II State Prison
Attn: DCE Library
24427 Mussellwhite Dr
Waverly, VA 23891

Please provide your return/contact info with your donation, and you will receive an acknowledgment letter.

As always, don’t forget to ask the USPS for the media rate when sending books without advertisements. Thank you for your donation!

Thanks. I hope they don't return it. I haven't spoken to any prison librarians in the last week or so, which has been the time period where everything's getting shut down because of the corona virus. I don't know how or if their policies have changed about accepting books.
