Denise - in the same chapter, Kvothe explains why he didn't find Ben, so I guess now we know the answer to our question from last chapters...

The chapters where he was homeless in the city weren't as much fun to read, though I understand why they were necessary in his character development. But I'm excited that he's at the university now. The chapter where he's interviewed by the panel of schoolmasters was fantastic! I loved how he used his street smarts to give himself a leg up in preparing for it, and in how clever he was when responding to their questions.
