Michael's patience astounds me. So many would walk away without a second thought the way Angel is trying so hard to push him away. As a reader, we know the story and cheer him on for his ability to stand by her. I can't help but think, if we were IN the story with no background, as his dear friend, would we feel the same? I can't help but think we might tell him to forget her and move on, as she really doesn't seem to want what he's offering. It only makes me realize, we never really truly know someone until we take time and effort to gain trust.
