Kathleen Duncanson | 5 comments I have the Nook Tablet and I dropped it (in a protective case no less) and the glass broke. I have a nice spider web of cracks in the glass. Does anyone know if this can be repaired? I love my nook and have a lot of books yet to read. Thanks for any information you can pass along.

Michelle (mgauffant) | 86 comments Yes and yes. I had mine repaired this year at an ipad/tablet repair shop in my area. With so many tablets and smart phones, these shops are popping up everywhere. Just know that once you get that glass repaired, it nulls your warranty.
Mine was way out of warranty anyway, so I had no problems getting it fixed-and good as new!!!

Kathleen Duncanson | 5 comments Thanks for responding to my question. would you be willing to give me the name of the shop or a telephone number? Also, do you recall the cost of replacing the glass?

Michelle (mgauffant) | 86 comments I'm in AZ-so it all depends on where you are.
Look for mobile phone/tablet repair on yelp; that's how i found mine.
I paid under $100.

Kathleen Duncanson | 5 comments Hi Michelle, I called Barnes & Noble today and they have offered to replace my Nook an upgrade it to the Nook HD + for $125. Since mine is a couple of years old I have decided to replace it. It's a good deal considering the cost of replacing the screen... Thanks for your time..

I hope it's brand new..you can find refurbished ones much cheaper that online!

Kathleen Duncanson | 5 comments well, funny you should mention that... I got up this morning to an email saying that my replacement Nook was out of stock and would not be available until 10/15/14... Now mind you they took the money out of my bank account but they were not going to ship for another month... I told them that that was unacceptable.. I'm saving my money and opting out for an Ipad... I cannot believe they sent an email saying that it was on it's way yesterday.. then they said no, it's not on its way.. then I chatted with CSR and she said how sorry she was but there was nothing she could do. After thinking about it, (this was a refurbished unit btw) I decided to cancel and guess what? All of a sudden they have one available in the warehouse. My patience was very thin by then so I told her to cancel the order... and that's not the end of the story..LOL... I just received an email saying my new Nook is on it's way... go figure.. I don't know what to believe at this point.. I did get a tracking number on this email.. I wish I knew what was going on over there... ridiculous.. I was very disappointed.. they have always provided good service in the past.. Stay tuned for the next episode ... I get the distinct feeling that the Nook HD, HD+ and Tablet are all no longer being made. They only show the new Galaxy and the Glow reader... Thanks for the heads up.. I was shopping on ebay and there are several there for around $100 new and $50 and up on used.. Thanks for your help in all of this... having very negative feelings towards B& N today..

Michelle (mgauffant) | 86 comments I've always had great experience with customer service, but my sister had a very similar experience to yours.
she had both of her kids Nooks replaced and continues to get the run around. It's a shame for those of us that want to continue to give B&N our business :(
Good luck whichever tablet you end up getting.
My uses for the nook are primarily reading..I have an Ipad, which I use for "tablet stuff"-so if you're leaning toward an Ipad, that's a great choice.
I have a nook simple touch for reading which is fantastic.
Good luck!!

Nina (marshnina) | 60 comments I have given up on barnes and noble nook. Now they are not being produced and Samsung is being sold in the stores. I have my nook books on an iPad and have also kindle and a kindle fire to carry to and from work.

Kathleen Duncanson | 5 comments Thanks for your input Nina... I'm just such a fan of Nook... I have been since they came out and this is my 3rd nook I have owned. I want to give them every chance to make it right. They tell me my new nook is being delivered on Tuesday. I will post once I have a look at it to see if I'm going to keep it.
