A poignant modern retelling of a classic Russian fable .

I read this over 4 years ago. I am not a fan of modern fairytales. So, this is not my type of book. I agree that the author captured the atmosphere of rural Alaska, but that was the only element of the story that spoke to me. I could not resolve the tension between the physical and magical aspects of the snow child. Rather than this tension intriguing me, it felt like the author wanted it both ways, a contradiction I could not hold together.
Pallavi wrote: "In Part 2It slow and good.. Its keeping me company when I am doing my chores and walks." I really liked the atmosphere created.

Very True Mike ...:)
In chapter 39.
Somehow this story, this setting is becoming near to heart..
Mabel and Jack, their sorrow, their neighbors George & Family... Fayina (Hope I spelled it right) everything is feels dear to me
