In the book,"Al capone Does my homework". What this is about is a young teenage Gang and how they live in one of the most Dangerous Prisons Alcatarz. They by these Brutal Very smart Criminals. Which I find odd but you know how teenagers are these days. The protagonist in the story is the Narrator he brings himself down because of his family. For example he missed a game of Baseball with some cool kid at his school because his sisters had a show so he couldn't miss it. Now that his Father is a warden The narrator has never felt more embarrassed in his life. He thinks hi father is too nice to be a warden which worries him because it seems like his Family needs that his dad has this job. It can change the way they live.I enjoy this map its amazing and the events that happen are shocking and put in a way that makes you want to read more which makes me Get on the tip of my toes. Some parts can get bored otherwise the book is really good. I did a personal Connection and its him being shy trying to make friends and fit in that used to be me. I would recommend This book to every reader Mostly to people who like History like me. What inspired the author to write this? I cant compare because its my first time reading this authors type of books and im really enjoying them. How this book compares to other Books in the same genre is by giving me so background info of the setting and its story. The most aspect of the text was Character Development And how throughout the story he would change in a good way. Would you create another book like this but with somewhat of a famous setting and a Famous person?
In the book "Matched" by Ally Condle, the Society will decide who you love, where you work, and when you die. 17 year old Cassia is on an air train with her childhood friend,Xander, and are on their way to City Hall to their matching banquet. When you turn 17 yrs old at some point you will get a matching banquet and must be match with someone who you must love and marry. When Cassia enters City Hall she starts to worry she is also excited to see for the first time who she will love and marry. When It's time for Cassia to be match the screen goes blank she knows what it means she is a single. The matching officials tell who she was matched, she couldn't believe it her matched with someone who she known all her life. Her match is Xander, she knows that it will change their friendship. In the middle of the book she meets someone who she knew for awhile, Ky Markham, they were at hiking and she was still heartbroken from the final banquet of her grandfather she is with Ky and are talking she finally realizes that she loves Ky buts she also loves Xander, but she can't love Ky due to his status he is an aberration and aberrations can't be matched.I like this book because of it contains romance and the conflict is to choose one person over the other and it can be troubling. This compares to a book called " Red is for Remembrance" by Laurie Faria Stolarz where the protagonist is trying to find her love even though the thought of him dead still keeps her struggling. The protagonist studies witchcraft and uses it to find "Shell" just like in "Crossed" she use Ky's artifact, a compass, and the blue tablets From Xander help her find Ky, her true love.
In the book The Maze Runner, Thomas gets rescued by a group of teenagers from the chamber of darkness. Then was they get to there bases the get too the maze. Who every goes in has a 2% chance of getting out. throught the story Thomas an the group venture in to the maze were they find many enemys and creatures that want them to die.As they progress in the maze they are surving on nothing but bread and they some how get to a path way that lead to a cave were they keep seeing the loved one that were dead. Then they relized that the maze was trying to keep them there so they progress and almost made it to the end. This was great it had adventure action and had a great story line. I would recommend this book any person that loves action and adventure. In this book there many similarities because in the book Percy jackson Battle of the labyrinth they are in the same situation. Overall, the book the maze runner is a great book and you should read it to.
In the book Crossed by Ally Condie. Cassia falls in love with Ky and he is taken away by the society in the first book now Cassia has to find him when she is finally where Ky was taken to she find out that Ky also went to search for her so she goes into different places to find Ky with her friend Indie who also wants to leave the place once they find Ky Cassia wants to look for the rebellion and Indie tells Ky to run with her so they can get to the rebellion because she thinks he and she are more alike then Cassia and Ky but Ky says no so they are now going to find the place as a group also Ky doesn't want to join the group because his family and villagers died because his dad had meeting about the rebellion. He is only going for Cassia
In the book, "the Dead and the Gone" there was this big accident that happen and Alex was confused on what to do. His mom was at working staying there for like 3 days and he stayed home taking care of his sisters. He has a dad but he was in Puerto Rico. Him and his sisters were trying to get in touch with him but they couldn't. He couldn't get in touch with his mom. I'd have to say this book genre is realistic fiction. I wouldn't say that there is an protagonist but there is a antagonist and it would be Alex cause he's trying to get in touch his parents. The setting is in Manhattan. The primary conflict is that something bad happened in Manhattan and he cant talk to his parents.Overall, I liked really liked book because it was interesting and realistic. Like the book had such a interesting story that made me want to read more of the book everyday. I'd recommended this book to Ms. Flagg because this book really caught my eye and interest. I'm not sure what Ms. Flagg's genre of books of but I think she would like this book. Like in the book something comes up with their dad and he tries to contact his dad. I couldn't make connections to this book but if anyone else was to read this book you'd probably have a connection. But, this book is really good.
In the book "House Of Dark Shadows" the Kings family moved from L.A. to a small town of Pinedale. Fifteen year old Sander was very disappointed. He and his siblings were unpacking there stuff in there new house while looking for new rooms. One night Sander and his brother David heard a noises that came for wrong directions and they also found giant foot prints. That's when they discovered something was odd about that house.Overall, the book was good but it wasn't scary enough. To me this book is more like a fantasy book. Id recommend this book to people who like fantasy with a bit horror because it is a very interesting combination. I did make a connection to this book. Like Sander was really sad and disappointed in moving to a new house. I was also really sad in moving to a new school and country.
In the book "My Sisters Keeper" Anna Fitzgerald was only born so she can be a direct donor for her older sister Kate Fitzgerald who suffers from leukemia. Anna usually donates whatever Kate needs, but when she turns 13 Anna is told that she must donate one of her kidneys. Anna fears that the loss of a kidney could seriously have an impact on her life so instead of donating she sues her family for medical emancipation (The rights of her own body).I was very absorbed in this book because unlike others it was extremely realistic and mature, it was almost like looking into another persons struggle and life without actually living it. I feel that this text should be something that a lot of people should read. Although I feel an age group that can deal with death is better choice for the reader. Its a book that really can touch the readers heart and everyone should really take into consideration about spending time to read this wonderful novel.
In the book crossed by Ally Condie, cassia is looking for Ky in one of the canyon outside of the society after finding him they go to look for a group against the society. Ky however doesn't want to join them because of his past with his father and mother and they died because of that.I like this book I think it is very interesting how he world would be if everything was chosen for you from when you are born to who you want to be and when you want to die. I think this book is about wanting to be my own person and choosing my own path and that it is ok to be different also expecting that. There is no difference between this book and the world we are living in because everyone in this world want to fit in and the same thing in the book the only difference is that in the book you have to fit in but in really life people are scared to be different.
The book " Wait till Helen Comes" is about a family that found a new house that has a graveyard at the back of thier house. Molly always finds her younger sister in the graveyard by the oak tree. A lot of people drowned there by the pond. One night Molly spied on Heather. Molly found Heather in the graveyard again talking to a glow of light. She found out that it was a ghost named Helen. Evry time Molly and her brother David does something to Heather ,Heather always threatened them. Heather always says " wait till Helen comes you'll be sorry for what you did to me."I like this book because it is very scary and thrilling. I would like to recommend this book to people who really likes horror.
This book is more scary the the book " House of Dark Shadows."
I Have Finished Reading the book "Al Capone Does my Homework"during the end the Character Faces more Problmes more than in the last book in this book what happen to him was intense first it was house getting burned by who know who Probably one of Al's men how did it but why? After that horrible event His father become a warden which made him some what happen his father would be able to buy them more food and live a better life. But that didn't happen instead his father gets stab and injuired Which Changes how the Character is for the rest of the story.I enjoyed This book because Its about history and its really intersting. I could make a connection with him its hurt not having a father to help you. I would recommend this to everyone because it has things about history and sometimes it has its Funny Moments. But its mostly teaches you a lesson. Which i enjoy alot. It compares to the books iv'e read because this is number 2. It compares to the same genre because it has to do with History. The biggest thing in this book was the Character changing through out the story.
In the book "What ever happened to Janie?" is about a family that lost thier daughter. The Springs family has been searching for thier daughter for 12 years. Thier daughter was kidnapped in the mall. 12 years later thier was a girl that called them that she saw her picture on the milk carton. They were so happy that they found her. They wanted her to live with them but she loved her other family more than the Springs.I would like to recommend this book to the people who like drama. The book was okay because it is a very interesting story. At first I thought it was a horror story but I was wrong. Is this story a true story? Where does this author get his ideas from? I wish it had a little bit of horror on it. Overall this book is okay for me.
In the book "the liberation of Gabriel king" the book is mostly about a boy name Gabriel king and how he is basically Afrid of everything mostly. His best friend Frida decides to make a plan so that he get get rid of all of his fears during the summer break. But Gabriel was facing a lot of challage with the antagonist in the book. The anatagonist in the story are two boys that are older then both Gabriel and Frida and they are always picking on them. but they were fifth graders so they went two the other side of the school were the older kids go and for the little time the bullies were in the fifth grade side they left Gabriel and his friend alone, but since the were graduating the were going the same side the bullies were and to Gabriel it was like the end.I would say that this book was good but I wasn't really a fan of the book. But I would recommend this book that likes to read books where they have issues that the protagonist learns from it and overcomes something (his fears in this case) then this is the book for you because in this book it's everywhere. I don't really like this book but it was good I would say this because it's good in the fact that the protagonist grows threw out the book, but one bad thing I didn't like about the book is just it wasn't really what you thought it was going to be about or how you thought it was going to be.
In the book reached by Ally Condie, Cassia the main character joins a group called the Rising that is trying to help people that don't want to be in the society. she finds out that Xander is also in the group. In the book crossed he said he had to tell her a secret when they see each other again and now they do and his secret was that he is part of the rising. I think this book is to tell people that you can do what ever you want because Cassia a girl that was a part of the society all her life and now she comes out of her shell and knows who she believes in and what she want to fight for also who she is a part of also matters so that is a big thing in this story it is also a love triangle between Xander, Cassia and Ky and that is also a big part of the story.
I have finished reading The Book "Fever" it takes place during the time america was starting to develop all these sickness. For the character The Person she Called a BestFriend Died due to this sickness Call "FEVER" What made the The Character angry was that that her mother doesnt like let her go see her. Her mother says she doesnt want her to get sick. But the real reason is because ever since the character's dad died her mother has been happy ever since. She rude her and doesnt care about anything. She didnt get to see her friend but some who she got the fever and she faces many problems because of that.I enjoyed this book it has to do with history and this is one of the frist Sickness in america so i found it very cool and wanted to read more. I would recommend this to all the people who enjoy history and like learning about Sickness. I wanna ask the author why they couldnt add a part where the main character sneaks out to see her dieing friend? It would make the book more exciting to read i know i would enjoy that. Overall a good book.
The book the fault in our stars by John Greens is about a cancer patient named Hazal and she has a problem with her lunges and she can't breath very well. So she has to go to sports groups because her parents think that she needs help and there she meets August Waters a boy who has problem with is leg and he had to cut it of. Then they become friends and he took her to Amsterdam so they can meet her favorite author but it terns out that he is a really bad guy but they find love but at the end of the book August Water ends up dying. I think this is a good book because it shows that everyone can have a story and you don't need to be remembered by everyone only one person is enough to be remembered by and Hazel learns that in an early age also that you should enjoy the time you have because soon that will end to. I would give this book a 10/10 because I think it is so realistic and we all can relate to it.
In the book "Defriended" was about a boy named Jason found the girl of his dreams Lacey on facebook. They have been messaging each other. Jason really wants to see Lacey but Lacey kept on saying that she was busy. Jason got very confused. Jason started to google Lacey. He found her obituary. He got shocked that he has been chatting with a ghost.I like this book because it is a very shocking story. I would recommend this book to the people who likes thriller. This book feels like it is really belongs tothe genre thriller than other books because i sometimes get chills when they solve a mystery. This book has a very interesting story. It has a lot of shock fator to it. You should read this book to see what happens at the end.

Here's a model of an exemplar review:
“The best time to cry is at night, when the lights are out and someone is being beaten up and screaming for help.” This quote opens Walter Dean Myers's intense text, Monster, a work of realistic fiction that takes place in New York City during the 1990s. Using journal entries and scripts, the novel tells the story of Steve Harmon, a sixteen year-old accused of being an accessory in the robbery of a convenience store and the murder of its owner. Feeling alienated from society, Steve is forced to reflect upon his own character to determine whether he is in fact the monster that much of society believes him to be. Talented and intelligent, the once aspiring film-maker is now a resident of the Manhattan Detention Center. Dealing with the pressure of disappointing his parents and failing as a role model to his brother Jerry, Steve uses writing to cope with the fear during the murder trial, as he faces the reality of a life behind bars.
Overall, I thought Monster to be an amazing journey. Steve faces many of the same problems that many teens do today. Not only does Steve endure pressure from neighborhood delinquents, but he also struggles with deciding what kind of man he wants to be. Is having strong moral character more important than maintaining his image and proving to people that he has, as the delinquent Bobo phrases it, "heart." Therefore, I would recommend this book my students, for it might encourage them to think twice before making a choice they know to be wrong. Because I think he understands teens so well, I would recommend to Myers that he writes more novels with female protagonists. Girls face many of the same issues as boys, yet novels often portray them as superficial or dramatic. I believe that he his themes about standing up for yourself and resisting peer pressure would also resonate with them and serve as an inspiration for positive decision making. Bottom line, whether his books are geared for boys or girls, teens or adults, Walter Dean Myers's engaging writing style, inspiring themes, and realistic conflicts continue to cause his readers to deeply reflect about the choices they make in deciding what kind of person they ultimately want to be.
