Always run by mods. :)
Always run by mods. :)
Hi guys, I'm looking for beta readers especially another author in my genre (sci-fi and fantasy)Let me tell you one thing about John Doe:
He lost everything including his eyes and memories...but that's not the story.
Long ago, very very long ago—not important how long. Someone did something and it broke the veil of time and space...yes, that is the story. John, isn't who he is and being shattered across three timelines gets him entangled. But the multiverse is collapsing and only someone so broken, so out of place in the multiverse, can fix it.
His journey is split in three, past, present, and future. Walking with a woman whose mission is as simple as it's premise will heal or break the multiverse. It's up to him to battle against fate or lean into it.
It's a mesh up of sci-fi, historical fantasy, and epic fantasy. Think The Dark Tower series by Stephen King meets N.K. Jesmisin's Fifth season multi-pov style.
Here's what I need:
A thoughtful eye that can spot plot holes and spot incoherence in the story flow. Basically someone who can identify where the story got boring.
Title: The Merged
Genre: Sci-fi/fantasy --> Epic speculative fantasy
Author: TM yomide
Audience: Adult fantasy readers who love a grand cosmic scale
Length: 60k words
Response date: 3 weeks
I'd love to read and give feedback to other authors, if you found the Merged enjoyable.

This is the only place in the group where the reciprocal rule does not apply as reviews will not be posted, rather the critique should be sent to the author directly.I envision this thread involving authors swapping manuscripts, but I'm sure any of them would be happy to give a copy to anyone else willing to participate.
Please have the courtesy to make sure your manuscript is not a first draft. This is not an editing service, but another pair of eyes who 'may' pick up typos, plot holes, continuity, story/character arcs etc.
Note: the operative word here is 'critique,' yes its nice to hear someone has enjoyed your book, but this is about making it better. Be polite rather than brutal in your critiques, but there isn't a lot of point in the exercise unless you can give advice on how to improve the work.
Authors: You don't have to take the advice of a critique partner, but you did ask for their opinion, so even if you totally disagree with what they said, a 'thank you' is the appropriate response. Authors need a thick skin.
Post your book that you would like another author to assess on this thread, with title, genre, blurb, approx word length and what you expect from a beta reader, including timings.
Let me know when you want your book removed from the thread.
