Likin' the Spiritual, but NOT the Religious? discussion

What a great chapter and conclusion to the book. What do y'all think?

this week after reflection on her writings, I realized that it's not the perceived "big things" that must be exposed by light : rather the small, more daily things that I need work on and then some that I already do well that Jesus himself talked about: like just day to day reactions to people.. how we treat them, talk to them, listen to them.. make time for them.. and then small things like cursing at stop lights, tiny parking spaces, stupid people.. they may be less smart, but they are worthy .. more and more I'm seeing how much I refer to water through out this book and how comforting it is and supportive of me as a human! just my thoughts ... :)

there really isn't any big or small: those terms don't really exist.. or they shouldn't : 1 person encounter deserves grace and love: 50 educated people encountered deserve love : nothing less :) inside out.. not the other way.. it's like stuff done in private or secret holds the same weight as public .. or it should!!

Great observation, Maria. It's easy to dismiss those "small things" as insignificant and go straight for the bug justice issues. But the reality is that all our behavior matters day to day. What does out do to the problems of race if a white person (like myself) commits to acknowledge politely the presence of every young African-American man you encounter?
