Maddie Fynn is a shy high school junior, cursed with an eerie intuitive ability: she sees a series of unique digits hovering above the foreheads of each person she encounters. Her earliest memories are marked by these numbers, but it takes her father's premature death for Maddie and her family to realize that these mysterious digits are actually death dates, and just like birthdays, everyone has one.

Forced by her alcoholic mother to use her ability to make extra money, Maddie identifies the quickly approaching death date of one client's young son, but because her ability only allows her to see the when and not the how, she's unable to offer any more insight. When the boy goes missing on that exact date, law enforcement turns to Maddie.

Soon, Maddie is entangled in a homicide investigation, and more young people disappear and are later found murdered. A suspect for the investigation, a target for the murderer, and attracting the attentions of a mysterious young admirer who may be connected to it all, Maddie's whole existence is about to be turned upside down. Can she right things before it's too late?

I've finished, and it was the best ARC I've read in a while!

I couldn't guess who the killer was, and I really liked the ending as well!

Chapter 2 (view spoiler)[Did not expect the boy to be tortured then murdered, poor thing. Can't really blame his mum for not believing her at the start I guess, but then again, she did go to Maddie so she obviously believes her to a certain extent? (hide spoiler)]

Pity Maddie for having such a cruel ability

Stubby's mum seems really nice! And I didn't like Maddie's mum at the beginning, but (view spoiler)[I'm glad she's sober by the end of the book! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 21 (view spoiler)[I definitely didn't expect Rick to be the killer, but I'm glad that Faraday was able to trust Maddie before it got too late. And Aidan being Faraday's son is a nice touch. (hide spoiler)]

I'm only at chapter 2 and I'm not sure where the story's going, but I know what I don't like about it: (view spoiler)[how the dates never change. It's like no matter what we do, it doesn't matter since we'll die on our date. (hide spoiler)]

End of chapter 3: I feel sorry for Maddie, hate her mother, find those agents annoying and I'm concerned about Payton.

I'm not even sure what chapter I'm on, but I just want to say this Faraday guy is awful!

I finished this book. Here are my thoughts.

8%: (view spoiler)[ So she can determine the day a person dies? That sounds unique. I am intrigued by the story so far. (hide spoiler)]

28%: (view spoiler)[ I feel bad for Maddie. I find the way the whole schoole and FBI are treating her sad because they do not know the whole story, and they are just assuming facts. (hide spoiler)]

64%: (view spoiler)[ Great! Now her mom got in an accident. This girl has been through so much already. I hope they find out who killed Tevon and Payton. I do not think Maddie can handle being followed by the FBI anymore. (hide spoiler)]
