Jeremy Megraw (jmegraw) | 48 comments I just wanted to share my reader's guide to Martin Beck posted today. Written for Crime Fiction Lover's Classics in Sept series, it's a special feature on the birth of the Scandicrime genre and Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö's enduring influence on noir today. It includes a book-by-book rundown for all 10 books.
CIS: A guide to the Martin Beck series
Reading the entire series straight through was such pleasure --- it should be criminal!

Pat (infosleuth) | 76 comments Thank you so much, Jeremy, for this excellent guide. Many years ago I was a great fan of Henning Mankell's work when someone gave me a copy of Roseanna. Mankell's introduction to that book put it in perspective for me and sent me on a hunt for all 10 books which, at the time, were out of print. Happily that is no longer the case! Your guide is a great encouragement to reread the series, now with a bit more knowledge of how it has influenced so much of what has followed.

Jeremy Megraw (jmegraw) | 48 comments Thank you for your thoughtful words Pat. It was such fun writing the guide. I read the whole series straight through while vacationing in the Caribbean. I read them on my phone, but someday I will buy a slipcased box set if such a thing exists.
