Sounds great. I will consider entering. Does the work have to be as yet unpublished or can a story have been published already?

That's great, Deirdre and thanks for the question! The works for these two contests must be previously unpublished.

Here's what I'll be working on in November instead of doing NaNoWriMo this year: Tied in Pink, a romance short story anthology to support breast cancer research. I will be one of the proofreaders for this project.
We're seeking contributions. Click the above link for more details. Deadline is November 1st.

Not a contest, but an opportunity for publication...If you haven't come across CafeLit, they publish short stories as well as flash fiction online. They select the best for paperback and hardback publication. I recently had my tenth piece published with them.

Excited to hear that my flash fiction has been selected for inclusion in the forthcoming 'The Best of CafeLit 4' (Chapeltown). I also have pieces included in The Best of CafeLit 3.
Sounds good. Thanks for the heads-up, Helen. ^_^
One question: Are they open to international authors or do you have to live in the UK?

Yes, anyone can submit, Lura.
Here is also a contest from http://www.lifeofwriters.com/home/indexIt is a rainy Wednesday morning and Rebecca is on her way to a meeting. She has been waiting on this meeting for months and now the day has arrived. She got up early to take a long shower, do her makeup, and get dressed nicely. She wants to make a good impression.
She gets out of her car and walks the rest of the way, but as she passes a shop window, she stops. Her eyes are fixed at the window looking inside the shop and she cannot believe what she is seeing. She doesn’t move a bit, she just keeps looking.
Meet the following criteria:
1) Continue the story.
2) Will she get to the meeting?
3) What is she looking at?
4) Make your own title.
5) Must be a maximum of 700 words.
6) This contest will close once 50 writers have submitted their story after which the winners will be announced. Once LifeOfWriters has grown to enough users, a new contest will start each week.
Right now I've got too many plates spinning, but I'm really interested in this. Maybe your next one. Love
Jenny
