Which book is your favorite? Do the books need to be read in order? Is this a series that stays pretty steady or does it get better or get worse?

Ok, for someone who's never read these books before. What would you tell them? Or, actually, tell me! lol, I know, crazy, but I've never read this series before. They've been on my list to read, it just hasn't happened yet! But this seems like a good excuse to bump them up to the top.

I'd say definitely give them a try. The whole concept sounds hokey: urban vampires with excess Hs in their names who listen to rap, dress in leathers, and fight bad guys with daggers. But the way this author sucks you into their world, makes you care about their history, and makes you feel their pains and sucesses... it's outa this world! They've all had tough lives, and you care what happens.

My favorite so far was Lover Awakened because Zsadist's story is most compelling--he was a slave. The books do need to be read in order, because character stories continue to grow from one book to another. The series gets better, but some Brothers will grab you more than others. Phury annoyed me, but the backstory was still good.

I would definitely give them a try. Out of all the books I think my favorite is actually Wrath's story. Which is weird because normally I don't like the first book in a series but this one was my favorite. As Sarah said, I also loved Zsadist's story.

I would say that the books get better, if you just take out Phury's book lol. I really didn't like that one. But other than that they get better.

My only issue with this series is that as the books go on, it sort of turns from being paranormal romance into Urban fantasy books. I mean, she still calls it pnr, but there is definitely less focus on the relationships of the two main characters and more on the other plotlines.

I fully agree with Sarah and Jess! Phury's book irked me bad. Especially the parts with him and Cormia. lol

It may sound ridiculous if I were to tell you the general overall story it sounds really lame. BUT it isn't! The characters will pull you in and keep you there. Vishous' story was my favorite.... then again Vishous is my favorite brother. I am a tad biased. lol

I actually like how the books ventured from PNR to UF. There is still a lot of focus on relationships but I love how the world is expanding and becoming more complicated.

mmm V's book I forgot about that one! That's also one of my faves. :)

Butch's book was also good. I loved his growth in that one, and his relationship with V.

I love ALL of the books! .... except for Phury's. lol

I just found J.R. Ward's Facebook fan page. There's a post on there that Lover Mine (JM's book) is due out spring 2010, and Payne and Manny will have a book in April 2011.

I know! XD I'm so excited! I hope she continues after the original 10 she had planned. I really wnat Qhuinn and Lassiter to get their own books!

lol, Ok, I'm convinced! I'm going in the morning to pick up the first book. Too bad that book store is closed already tonight!

I think Lassiter's story might be covered in the other series she's doing about The Fallen Angels

I think she said somewhere ... or someone on her boards said that Lassiter won't be in the Covet series. That his book (if he gets it) will be in the BDB.

Also her publisher changed the contract from the original 10 to open ended I believe :D

YAY! I can't wait for JM's book. It's killing me that there is no cover, back blurb, or even release date for it yet!

Yeah, I had heard that too. Though I'd be willing to bet he'll at least make some cameos in the other series.

Nichole I know that some of the brother appear in the first Covet novel. It makes sense that Lassiter would too but I don't remember his name on the list of crossovers.

Alright! I will admit that I've been stupid to keep pushing this series to the bottom of my to-be-read list. I picked up the first one at the store this morning, barely put it down all day. Just finished it and am frantically trying to get the audiobook of #2 onto my ipod before I leave for work in 30 minutes!

Isn't it fabulous Kelley Anne? I read the entire series in about a week and a half. lol

I too love this series. It's my favorite PNR series, hands down. I'll be the odd one out though and say I loved Phury's book, and it was my favorite until Rehv's book came along. Those two are so strong for me because of the way they further along so many other story lines in addition to the main characters. Phury's book was as much about the boys as it was him, and I love those three! And I won't give spoilers away for Kelley Anne, but the other relationship focused on in LAv was alone worth reading the book (although anything with Rehv is worth reading).

Favorite Brother? Ugh... This is always a toss up between V and Z - and today I'm going Z

Favorite non-Brother - Rehv

Favorite potential Brother - Qhuinn

Which book is your favorite?
Answer: Loved, absolutely loved Lover Awakened! So good!

Do the books need to be read in order?
Answer: I think they do because you'll miss something if you skip one, even Phury's. (LOL)

Is this a series that stays pretty steady or does it get better or get worse?

Answer: Except for the ending of Lover Unbound and Lover Enshrined, it was pretty steady. From all that I know, it got even better with Lover Avenged to the point that I, like all other J.R. fans, can't wait for Lover Mine.

DarkHeart the only thing that saved Phury's book for me was the boys! lol

I know the "furthering of a relationship" of which you speak and I agree FULLY! lol

I too absolutely LOVE this series! Has to be in my top 5 for sure! I am currently reading Lover Enshrined (Phury's book) and have been sceptical about reading it as I hear so many who haven't liked it, but i'm curious and glad to hear that at least 1 of you out there liked Phury's book!:) So far my fav brother is V as is his book my fav, followed very closely by Butch! I just love those two and can't help but laugh out loud at there interations! Can't wait to read Rehv's book next! Can't wait also to hear who your fav ends up being Kelley Anne!

Susan, so much happens in Phury's book - I can't understand why everyone didn't love it as much as I did. =) I hope you enjoy it!

I like Phury's book, just not Phury's story. Cormia is blaaaaahhhhh.

I liked all the side stuff with JM / Lash
but as far as Phury's story i just wasn't thrilled with it..

I'm right there with you guys. Phuray and Cormia definitely bugged me, but the side stories throughout their book were definitely interesting and entertaining.

Phury was never one of my favorites, so I wasn't as bothered by his story. J.M., Qhuinn, Blay, Xhex, Rehv, Z and Lash all made the story so good though.

And I actually like Cormia and thought she got a raw deal most of the book, being stuck with Phury. LOL

I can't say why exactly Cormia annoyed me. It will spoil it. I will sayt hat it wasn't anything really about her personality but certain things she did. lol

Ok, so I've got a bit before I need to worry about it!

Yeah their whole "relationship" is bugging me! I just think if he brought her over to his side then he needs to freaking spend time with her. I mean seriosuly suck it up and take her already! LOL But no he's more obsessed with his red smoke crap! Damn addict LOL

I expected so much more of Phury and his story. I was actually looking forward to reading it. He seemed so interesting in the other books then BLAH! lol

I think I didn't like it because I never really liked Phury in the other books. I didn't like or dislike Cormia, I was ambivalent towards her which is even worse I think. She generated no feelings in me at all she was such a flat character!!

Despite not liking their relationship, I didn't like how the focus pretty much was on everything BUT phury and Cormia. That made it worse because I felt like I didn't really get to see them as characters. It was almost like it was teh first book in a series and was setting up all the side plots and getting the overall story into place. Weird.

But Rhev's book made up for it :)

Rhev's book was AMAZING! Everthing about it had me hooked. The main couples pov and everyone else's!

The side stories saved that book for me. I love John Matthew/Qhuinn/Blay!

I LOVE all the books, one of my favourite series, I dont think I could possibly pick a favourite. But I have to say, I am in love with John Matthew's story. I hope he get's his own book.

Edit-Oh, whoops. Just saw you said April. The only thing that bothers me is I know it's going to be hardcover again and I'll have to wait for the paperback. Sigh ...

Quick question. I'm about halfway through Lover Awakened. Is John the reincarnation of Darrius?

I haven't gotten to that one yet, I'm still on Lover Enshrined, but I think from other discussions I'v read the answer to that is yes.....

I LOVE this series so much. It's probably one of my favorites that I'll keep going back to. Lucky for me, I started reading them after all but Lover Avengd was out. So I didn't have to wait so long in between reads.

This series opened the door for paranormal vampire romances with me. I started Lynn Viehl's Darkyn series, and Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series after finishing BDB.
