There are two species here. The Rakshasa/Rakshasi, and the Bodha. Rashasa The Rakshasa are a violent people, with the females known as Rakshasi. They are ruled by a queen, but she can be challenged at any time by another Rakshasi. It is rare for a man to lead, but it can happen. A cannibalistic race, they eat the bodies of their own if they are severely injured or lose a fight with another. It is said that the queen's flesh is delicious, and if there is a challenge for the Queenship, the loser is eaten. They aren't very welcome to outsiders- except in their stomachs. Heat is their power, and they thrive in it. They need to live in heat to survive. Water weakens them greatly, but they can recover quickly. They are split into tribes, each ruled by a separate queen. The only real ranks are Queen, Warrior, and Adolescent- which are simply younger warriors being trained and are usually grouped as warriors. The average tribe has about 10 warriors. There is a Royal Tribe that commands all the others, but the royal leadership doesn't change as much. They have names based off of human words that means dark things, like Malevolence or Desecration. Luckily, the Rakshasi are easy to identify. They have glowing eyes and tattoos, all a reddish color. They glow all the time, but the Rakshasa and Rakshasi can turn off the glow for stealthiness. Their hair varies from black to red, but it all moves as if it's made of fire, flickering on the ends. There are some variations on their fangs, but they all have some sharp, and they have long sharp claws instead of fingernails. Bodha The Bodha, by contrast, are a peaceful people. They work as an almost normal society, with two Kings leading. The kings are forbidden from marriage, and instead have a large group of concubines. Occasionally one will take a great liking to a girl and she'll become his official consort. She doesn't have any actual power, but to offend or disrespect her is to offend and disrespect your king. They have a group of Warriors that functions as an army, and then normal civilians. They are attached to fire like the Rakshasi, and water will weaken them as well. However, they have a little more control over their fire, able to shift the temperature near them and create small flames. When humans sacrificed people into volcanoes to appease the gods, the girls were lost in the tunnels for centuries, though it only seemed a brief moment to them. They emerge here and are reborn out of the lava as a Bodha, tattoos and jewels and all. They are immediately met by the Kings and are renamed with their rebirth, given creative, new names like Dormida. The average is one girl a year. They have golden tan skin marked with delicate, swirling and intricate tattoos. White and blonde are the most common hair colors, though they have all but black. Many have scales or jewels in their skin, especially on their face, that's part of their skin. Most of the time the jewels all have the same color scheme. Lava runs through the ceiling of the caverns and acts as the sun/light. So no guns and phones, it's all spears and bow and arrows and things. There are caves and tunnels running under the main caverns for hunting, the Rakshasa and Bodha's seperated by avalanches.
Mythology Rakshasi worship Ignacia, who is said to be the Fire Demon. She was born when her mother Lava touched her father Air for the first time, creating her. She is the cheif torturer among demons, using her flames to burn and torment the wicked through all eternity. Bodha worship Pyralis, an angel born among flames. He is said to have Fallen to save is brother, and because of his sacrifice his life was bartered for. He was resurructed, but can only exist in flames. Both worship Hestia, goddess of lava. She is neutral in all things, and kind to all her subjects. It is Hestia that keeps the sacrificed girls safe and asleep until it is their time.
