Do you ever feel pressured to finish a book once you start it? What about if you don't like it? Are there certain requirements that makes you HAVE to finish a book?

---I personally do not like stopping a book. It makes me feel really bad because I believe that all books have the potential to be great. Although, I have DNF'd a couple of books, I don't like to make it a habit.

I'm the same way! I feel like I should read a book start to finish! I'm probably only DNFed 2 books in my life

Katie Same here. I always feel like it will get better. Also I don't like putting so much time in and not even being able to say I finished!

I used to always finish book.I had the idea that if it was published it was good enought to finish(cause editors and others read something a "thousand" times before something is published). But lately I have started giving up on books,I stopp a book if it bores the h.. of me.if theres nothing interesting in it.

Jessi (jessilovesbooks) I'm pretty quick to give up on a book. There's so many other awesome books out there that I just can't finish a book if I don't like it. I do usually make myself read to at least 50 pages or 25% before I give up, unless there's something really offensive.

Usually before I decide to stop reading a book, I skip some parts that I think aren't necessary. If this way doesn't make it better, than I've to stop reading the book.

I actually cannot skip parts of a book! I don't know what it is but I've never been able to do it. I always feel like I'll miss something important.

-RininTa- (rinz) | 151 comments @Katie: the way that I do is actually more to skim-read rather than really skip all the parts. I try to find the main point of a page and skip the narrations or some of the explanations. I missed a lot of important things at first but when I practice it often, actually it help me to keep read a book that I doubt to finish :)

If I lose interest in a book, I just put it down. Go back to it later on when I'm in a better mood. I tend to give books at least 3 tries before i complete just give up on it. There are a few series and books I just couldn't force myself to finish.

That makes sense - I might have to try it. It would be a good method for review copies as I feel terrible not to finish them, but some just aren't for me. It would be helpful to skim through; I'm just not good at it.

Trakena | 8 comments I don't like to not finish a book, but if it annoys me enough I will. My time is too precious to fool around with stories I'm not fond of.
