You can't actualy read published books on here, but you can read and write stories posted to Goodreads.

oh, i sounded pretty stupid when i was a newbie. most people understand how it is to be a newbie. and you can experience a lot of elements of groups right here so you don't have to be completely clusless :)

Well, no. If you are not a moderator of the group you cannot make the group private. if you are talking about hiding yourself from the group the group's setting would have to be secret, so you would also have to be a mod on that case as well.

yes. only the moderator has the power to make a group private or secret

Hello,
What does notification mean? I am not sure what I am suppose to do with notifications.

Notifications just tell you when another goodreads member did something that may interest you. For example, Sally Sue invited you to answer "this" poll and left "this" comment in the Chat topic in the Random Group. Or, Jonny liked the first chapter of your story, The Purple Flower.

You just read them and do something about it if you want to.
