Danica has a lot of expectations for herself, and it's for that reason she spends most of her time studying and going to her extracurricular activities. She can often come off as shrewd, bold and a bit indifferent when you first meet her, but once you get to know her, you'll find that she's a rather nice girl and passionate about the things she cares about--whether it be her opinions or people. She's a bit of a perfectionist in everything that she does and always has a certain way of doing things--mostly because of her being bullied in the past. She feels that if she messes up, she could loose her confidence, her friends, and might fall back into that black hole. But Danica tries hard not to be that person. She enjoys having a good time and laughing and just being herself. She is an independent and intelligent woman who intends to go far in life, and she doesn't plan on letting her insecurities get in her way.

Even though her family enrolled her in soccer, softball, and swimming, Danica still grew up being a bit bigger than her classmates, stuck wearing XL t-shirts while all of her friends got to fight over the last Small. She played kickball and football with the boys at recess, she picked tennis and volleyball over arts and crafts at summer camp, and always had an apple in her lunch instead of a snack pack. There were two summers at "fat camp" where she lost thirty pounds each time, but they didn't stay off long. It seemed no matter how hard she tried or how healthy she ate, Danica seemed to be permanently stuck in the "chubby" category. And she was bullied for it, from the time she was five years old until she reached high school. Her peers created games that were designed specifically to humiliate her, made snide comments behind her back when she walked around in her swimsuit, and were just generally cruel as preteens often are.

It wasn't until high school that Danica started to feel comfortable in her own skin, to actually accept herself for how she looked and more-so, who she was. She was a great swimmer (butterfly was her stroke), her saxophone playing was above average, and her class schedule was jam-packed with honors and AP classes. Her list of clubs was endless--advanced Choir, Jazz Band, Red Cross Club, GSA, Drama Club, Student Council, and occasionally Spanish Club. She even had the notoriety of being the first freshman to ever beat an upperclassmen for a position on the Student Council executive board. As her confidence in herself grew, so did her social circle--people no longer scoffed when she climbed out of the pool, and she was finally invited on trips to the mall (even if sharing clothes with her friends still wasn't really an option).

But the one thing Danica's new confidence can't seem to get for her, is a relationship. And despite how much she tries to deny it, she feels a little jilted. The first boy Danica ever had a crush on was Adam--she was nine and he seemed more grown-up than any of the other 5th grade boys. But she mostly admired him from afar, never having the courage to ask him out on a date, or even to the middle school's Sadie Hawkins Dance. In high school they fell into similar friend circles, but Danica always felt some awkward distance between them. So of course, when her asked out her friend Lori, Danica did the polite thing, smiled, and wished them well, never letting on how she felt. But as far as she's concerned, it's as if Adam picked Lori over her, as if there was something that just didn't measure up between them. But it wasn't smarts, skills, or personality--the only thing that didn't seem to match was Danica's weight. She tried not to let the insecurity pick away at her, but she can't help but feel like every one of her friends will get their happily ever after, and she'll be the one to end up alone. But she's proud of who she's become and where her future is headed, so if she ends up single, it's okay, right?

Shane Karr is a wrecking ball. On more than one occasion, he’s just barreled into someone’s life and changed it forever. He’s the type of guy who shuffles his way into your heart and never leaves. Not that you’d want him to. He’s always of the utmost sincerity and honesty, making it impossible to truly want to be away from him. Maybe it’s just his puppy dog eyes that do it, but something about Shane keeps people coming back for more.

The first love of Shane’s life is music. Born to two rock stars, he’s got Zeppelin running through his veins. His second and most passionate love goes by the name of Mary Jane. Shane is that one guy sitting in the back of your English class who smells like a bag of Doritos mixed with cigarettes and weed. If you see him and he isn’t high as a kite, he’s either just woken up or something is very wrong. He uses his stoner persona to give off a vibe that says he just doesn’t care. And maybe he doesn’t. Maybe he is just some guy who’d rather be high than deal with things.

But Shane doesn’t do anything he doesn’t care about. Which is probably why he’s failing most of his classes. But of the things he truly wants to do, he puts everything he has into it. He’s passionate that way. Whether it’s writing a new song or figuring out the meaning of life, he’s not going to stop until he’s perfected it. He’s not going to give up on something he thinks is worth his time. This attitude continues on with his relationships towards people. And it can sometimes come off as a little controlling. If there’s something he invests himself in, he has this overwhelming need to keep it perfect. He puts so much of himself into anything he bothers to actually do, he can’t stand the thought of that perfect thing not doing what he requires of it.

Truth be told, Shane is a little needy. He wears his confidence like a costume, because he’s scared that if he doesn’t, someone’s going to look past his easy going exterior and see that he doesn’t have it together like he wants people to believe.

When you're born the child of two rock ledges, you're destined to be one yourself.

The whole world was surprised to find out that Roxy Star and Maverick Legend were getting married. They were seen together all the time, but when you think of the king and queen of rock music, you don't picture a white wedding between them. Roxy was the lead singer of rock girl group Neon Sister and Maverick was the rhythm guitarist for Park of the Dash. It was every fanboy's dream that they got together, but they never expected it to actually happen. It was almost as shocking as when they found out that "Roxy's" real name was Savannah Roxanne and Maverick's last name was something as boring as Karr. But it threw them for even more of a loop to know that they were expecting a child together.

Because of their demanding careers, Roxy and Maverick were often on tour. They were lucky enough to have bands with such similar sounds that they could play and travel the world together, but there was no way they were going to leave their little boy home alone. Shane started touring with his parents six months after he was born, and spent most of his childhood on the road. It quickly became clear to the young parents that their little boy was more like them than they could have ever imagined. Their son might as well have been birthed on stage by how much time he spend on it. The moment Shane could function enough to hold a drum stick, he was playing music, just like his parents. He had rock 'n roll coursing through his veins from the Van Halen he heard in the womb, to the pots and pans he banged on throughout childhood.
Music was his outlet from an early age, just like it was for his parents. He was taught to play every instrument his parents knew and was able to play six chords before he could ride a bike at 4. They were raising the perfect little rock god.

Eventually, though, the couple decided they needed to settle down for Shane. A life on the road wasn't the life they wanted for him. So when he was going into middle school, they settled down in Roxy's hometown, where the hustle and bustle was still all around them: Upper East Side.

That was right around the time Shane's love affair with drugs began. It was after a small time show he played with one of his first bands. He was hanging out with some older kids and they were passing around a blunt. He knew the smell, as it had come from his parents' room a million times. He never really thought much of it. It was just another scent in his house. He hadn't really connected the dots until now. When he got that rolled up cigar in his fingers, something started in him. He tasted the smoke and breathed in deep. He enjoyed the intimidate cloud of THC, the relaxation that washed over him. It was something he never wanted to let go of. From that moment on, Shane turned into the lovable pothead he would always be known as.

Addison is one of the nicest people you’re ever going to meet. She is sugary sweet in every aspect of her life. She’s the type who’s always waiting with open arms to welcome someone who’s having a bad day; baking cookies when her best friend gets her heart broken; volunteering at Habitat for Humanity every weekend. She’s so kind that it’s downright annoying to some. But that’s just how she is.

She has a dreamy disposition, always keeping her head in the clouds. She’s often getting called down in class for not paying attention, her eyes staring out the window. She gives in to her daydreams, but not in a bad way. Living in her fantasy world leaves her open to positivism. She sees the world through rose-tinted glasses, and it keeps her happy. She only focuses on the pleasant things in life, because the negatives are too much for her sometimes. But that leaves her completely blinded to the bad. Life isn’t sunshine and Santa Clause, and that's just something she doesn't realize (and yes, it took her until she was 16 to stop believing in Santa...). She’s so naive to the not-so-pretty parts of life, having been sheltered by her parents and being an optimist at heart. Ignorance is bliss, but ignorance is still ignorance. And it’s come back to hurt her more than once.

Addison is also not the brightest one of the bunch. She’s not exactly stupid, but she’s no scholar, and she doesn’t try to be. She could be described as “blonde”, but not by her hair color. She’s a little slow to catching sarcasm, and it often goes right over her head. She expects everything to be right on the surface, so things with deeper meaning aren’t likely to resonate to her immediately. Sexual innuendos, or references to current events short of celebrity gossip never register with her. She doesn’t pay attention to things like that. It’s of no interest to her. She’d rather let people tell her what’s going on in the world than find out for herself. She’s innocent and kind, a bit too naive and friendly for her own good, but Addison will love you no matter what if you let her.

Addison Dannika was the only daughter born into six boys. Morgan and Christopher wanted a daughter so terribly, they kept trying until they got one. Addi was their princess. All of her brothers — from Garrett who was twelve years older than her, to Joshua at only two — were incredibly protective over their new baby sister from day one. She was the pride and joy of the entire family. Life was nothing spectacular for the Dannika's. Chris and Morgan both had well playing jobs, the children were relatively good, and there weren’t any particular tragedies. They were and are the All-American family. Holiday cards, birthday parties, family reunions, weekly allowances. They’re practically Leave it to Beaver, and they enjoy it. Addison doesn’t have some heartbreaking past. She wasn’t beaten by nuns or shunned by the public for something she can’t change. She grew up happy, loved, and comfortable.

Her father was an influential member of the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, instilling the strong Mormon beliefs into his children — especially his daughter. There was nothing he feared more than his precious girl turning out to be one of those teenagers. He wanted her to be perfected and devout in her faith. Luckily for him, he got his wish. Addi fell in love with Christ at a young age, and grew to be the perfect Mormon child. Never once uttering a dirty word, abiding by the rules, and always following in the path she knew her Savior wanted her to. By twelve, she was wearing a purity ring everyday, promising to her family, to God, and to herself that she would wait until marriage to have sex.

And then she met Dean Grace.

Freshman year was a strange time for Addi. She was falling for a boy she knew to be a heartbreaker. Dean was a player who didn’t even try to hide it, but he was so smooth and it felt so right when he whispered sweet things in her ear. Her finger was warm with that purity ring, and yet she was holding hands with someone she was almost certain was using her. But Dean never tried anything. When they first started dating, it took him weeks to work up the courage to even kiss her. There was no way he could be using her when he was being nothing short of a gentleman. Her family loved him. At first, her brothers were a bit suspicious, but eventually Dean won them over. Josh would invite Dean to his hockey games or just to come hang out. Addison was sure he was just trying to scare her new boyfriend out of the relationship, but soon enough, he gave her the green light. He thought Dean was a good guy for her.

As far as she was concerned, she tamed the beast that used to be Dean, and it was smooth sailing until the wedding bells. For the two and a half years that she and Dean were together, it was perfect. Romantic dates, meaningful conversations, beautiful gifts. He held her through nights when she was sick, went out of his way to make her feel better when she was sad, he loved her endlessly and she him.

But alas, things can never be perfect.

All throughout this year, Addison kept hearing rumors about Dean cheating on her…With her best friend, Annabel. But she knew it couldn’t be possible. Annabel Nash had been practically her sister nearly their whole lives! There was just no way. She hardly even let it phase her, believing the two of them would never hurt her. Dean was the love of her life, and Annabel was her go to girl. And then one night, Dean showed up to her house noticeably upset. She wanted to comfort him so badly, she hated seeing him like that. Her poor, sweet baby was hurting! She worried that she’d done something until she heard the words “I need to tell you the truth about something.”

Addison’s world came crashing down. Dean really had been cheating on her with Annabel! And not only that, he’d slept with her. Something she herself had been contemplating. She’d grown up to believe that sex before marriage was a total mistake. A sin. A disgrace to the gift God gave you. But for him…She would have done anything.

She would still do anything.
