Got a bit too much at the end.
✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare?
For this group? Yes. I have done the Dewey's Readathon. I think a time limit takes some of the enjoyment away.

No and no.

Yeah, my bed. But I took my Kindle to the kitchen and the loo too.

Nope.
✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre?
Yes. Toby Barlow. In Sharp Teeth, he uses a mix of poetry and prose to tell the story.
✓ Did you read alone or with partner?

It was my first time participating but I don't think it will be the last.
Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason?
I chose books in advance and for the first day that went well, but I had some ARCs to read so I took the opportunity to do all my reading at once for the second day.
Did you have a favorite reading spot?
I think sitting (or hanging) in the sofa would be my favorite.

Once I started it was easy, but unexpected happenings kinda ruined my careful planning when I was supposed to read.
Did you discover a new series, author or genre?
I must admit I'm pretty stoked after reading the Dark Maji series by author duo Kel Carpenter and Lucy Smoke
Did you read alone or with partner?
Alone
Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats?

✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete? Yes - too hard to track though due to work this month. I read many more than those listed above - was too hard to track my time. I've read a total of 18 books to date this month and may finish another between today and tomorrow.
✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? No - I've done it almost every year - I push myself to read/listen more in the month of Sept due to this
✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? No - team challenges and what I wanted sort of dictated book choices
✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot? Usually my bed/ audio in car or at work mostly
✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it? I never plan a schedule that's why I do the 2 - 7 hrs one
✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre? Yes - loved A Study in Scarlet Women. I'm ready for the next in the series. I've enjoyed The Men of the North series as well. Have 2 more to go then I'll be sad that I'm done.
Least favorite book Zack
✓ Did you read alone or with partner? Alone
✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, & eBook

Give us the Scoop:

✓ Number and/or list of books read - 6 books completed
✓ Number of pages read- 1619 pages

Optional Add'l Info to Share:
✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete?- I always find this a fun challenge. Just wish I was able to spend more time on it. Maybe next year, I'll do shorter periods and count the whole month.

✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare?
I have participated the past 3 years. I will be participating next year. I always enjoy this RaT.

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason?
No, I just planned to read challenge books. But then I went on a reading binge of one series and that was the end of that.

✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot?
I enjoy reading in my recliner and my bed.

✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it?
Once I was able to start, it was easy. It was hard carving out 12 hour chunks to do nothing but reading.

✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre?
Not new, but I caught up in a series that I had started previously (well if you include the following day as well).

✓ Did you read alone or with partner?
read alone

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats?
Only Kindle. It's practically the only way I ever read these days.

Eldarwen | 2201 comments I read until late last night - or not late, late, but l usually turn off the pc earlier than that and don't like the app ;-)

✓ Number of days/hours spent reading: 24 hours over 8 days
✓ Number and/or list of books read: page from 6 books read
Mistborn (Mistborn, #1) by Brandon Sanderson Exit West by Mohsin Hamid Sapphire Flames (Hidden Legacy, #4) by Ilona Andrews Moonraker by Ian Fleming Les Misérables by Victor Hugo De Schatz vun Drachensteen (De Leschte Ritter, #1) by ND Genen
✓ Number of pages read: 753

✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete?
It was fun, but apparently this was not a good month for me to just sit down and read. I read a lot spread out over the course of the day, but I rarely sit down for a few hours and just read.
✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare?
First time participating in this group. Previous RATs were just one week/weekend of reading. Maybe I'll try a different approach next year and see how it goes.
✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason?
I gave myself a few options of books I'd like to read because they've been staring at me for a while. Some of those I've read, and others I haven't touched because I either didn't have enough time, read too slowly, or because challenges required something that wasn't compatible with those.
✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot?
No. I switched around.
✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it?
There were just too many other things happening so I didn't have enough time to sit down and just read over the weekends, since more than just 1 hour straight during the week is difficult.
✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre?
Nope.
✓ Did you read alone or with partner?
Alone.
✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats?
For the most part, I always read paperbacks. For this RAT, as I'm reading Les Mis with a group, I've also done a bit of audio for that one, and the graphic novel I threw in was a hardcover.
