Do you guys think Snape is good, bad, or gray? Personally, I think he’s gray.

Gray I guess. I mean in the first 6 books I thought he was bad but now I.... ( i don’t want to spoil the book😉).
i think snape is a generally a good guy but i don’t think james should have been an excuse to be so rude to harry :)
I am okay with shape not like Harry Potter because of his dad. James Potter (his that his name?) should not have bullied Snape. Just became he his popular does not make it right.

Same.
Same.
Probably gray. He is one of my favorites as well
I want to like Snape, but he was not all that great of a person. He resented Harry because Harry represented something that he wished he had been able to have with Lily which was a pretty bad thing to do. He only came to be good when the things he believed and the person he followed hurt the person he loved. If Voldemort had only killed James would he have gone to Dumbledore? I personally don't think so. His lusting after Lily was also more creepy than romantic. Unrequited love isn't romantic, it's sad and Snape should have been mature enough to move on. I think Snape was very brave at the end and did what he did to atone for a lifetime of wrongdoing, but I don't think he was all that good of a person.
Insightful! I am re-reading the series now and I am just finishing The Prisoner of Azkaban and I have to agree that he made a lot of bad judgements. I think he did let his bruised ego/heart control his emotions and thereby his actions. He did atone himself though and for that he is still a hero in the end for me.
