``Laurie (laurielynette) Any Regency Romance fans here at Belles of the South?
I've started this new thread so we would have a place to share our favorites in this genre.

I am a huge Jane Aiken Hodge fan, an older writer of RR. I devoured her books in the 70's and 80's.

A few of my favorites by her:

Polonaise

Shadow Of A Lady

Red Sky at Night, Lovers' Delight

Watch the Wall,My Darling

The private world of Georgette Heyer
I recently bought her biography of Georgette Heyer and it does look interesting.

Are any other members a fan of Hodge's books?
Who is your favorite Regency author and book?

Diane Lynn | 50 comments I also like Jane Aiken Hodge. I need to read more of hers and since my local library has quite a few, I'm all set. Of the ones I have read, Savannah Purchase, is my favorite.

``Laurie (laurielynette) I read a few of Hodge's books set in the south during the revolutionary war and really enjoyed them Diane. It's probably time for me to reread them because the details are becoming very vague over time. I can't remember which book set during that era featured the horrific Aunt Anne who complained non-stop through the whole book and was absolutely hilarious even though she almost drove the heroine nuts. As I recall all of Hodge's books usually had an extremely aggravating, self absorbed character that the heroine had to cope with.

``Laurie (laurielynette) Another writer of Regency Romance books that I love is Marion Chesney. Her RR books always made me smile and I loved her light style.

Chesney is better known today writing under her pen name M C Beaton that some of you may be familiar with.
