The Wonderful World of Hogwarts—A Detailed And Advanced Roleplay discussion

Jess stood outside of Ollivander's for a few minutes. She was nervous about getting her first wand. Her uncle Kurtis, stood beside her and smiled encouragingly at her. Jessica took a deep breath before heading for the door. She wished for her mother to be with her, but she knew that her mother was in her heart as well as her features. Most people who remembered her mother said she looked like her. The bell rung as she opened the door and walked into the dusty old shop.

The witch who ran the shop was putting away a few boxes from her last customer, wands that had been tried and passed over, when a tall young little girl walked in, presumably preparing for her first year at Hogwarts. "Good morning dearie," Angela said, her large smile showing teeth. "Off to Hogwarts, are you? I'm Angela."

Jess nodded. "Yes, why thank you." She was always taught to be formal and proper. Her nerves were starting to calm down at the woman's nice words. Kurtis stood behind her with a charming smile. He could remember his first wand, but that was back before Angela took over the store.

"What is your name sweetheart?" Angela asked, her back now to the girl as she began to peruse the shelves. She had an innate sense of which wands belonged with which witches, but so far she had yet to grasp the familiar feeling as her fingers brushed over the tops of the wand boxes.

"Jessica McBrie." She walked light footed to the counter. Her uncle had gone over to where some old books were. He looked engrossed with the reading material. It was like the past again, when Jess's mother Grace was getting her wand. Jess peered at the woman somewhat eager. She couldn't help but be happy about it, but of course only her uncle understood what she needed.

"Pleasure to meet you," Angela mused. She pulled out a dark green box that smelled just a little bit musty from the bottom level of one of the shelves directly behind the counter. "Why don't you try this one, Jessica," the witch suggested, opening the box and holding it out to the girl.

Jess gently picked the wand up out of the box. She was able to feel every carving and crease in the wood. She looked at it for a few seconds before looking back at Angela, then back at the wand using her wrist as she flicked it at a pile of papers.

Angela's face split with a white-toothed grin as the pile of papers went flying. "Lovely!" she exclaimed, her hands raised to near-shoulder level. "Just lovely! Hazel and Ramora scales, at nine inches and three quarters..." She pulled out a thick ledger book, bound in leather. "Four Galleons, please."

Jess nodded and pulled out of her pocket four galleons. She handed them to Angela, "Here you go ma'am." She waited for the woman to take the payment. Her smile was bright as she was one step closer to being at Hogwart's School.
