Ani had ended up squashed in the middle of a group of fifth years. While she'd initially taken part in their now-swirling conversation, she now found that their talk had moved into a realm in which she could not follow. Picking up her mostly-empty plate and goblet, she slid out of her seat and wandered down the length of the table until she came across a girl with hair colored much like her own. Ani could remember the girl being Sorted into Slytherin, meaning this quiet redhead was a first year like herself.

"Mind if I sit here?" she queried, gesturing towards the spot on the other girl's right. "I'm Ani. Ani Boyle."

Ani sat, feeling awkward in the silence. She'd introduced herself, but she had yet to hear this other girl's name. So, in the meantime, she scooped another serving of sweet potatoes onto her plate.

Relieved that she'd finally spoken, Ani offered the other girl a smile. "Nice to meet you." How did this girl end up here? Ani had a pretty good idea what had brought her here, but this girl...

Ani smiled, amused by the girl's response. "Nonetheless, we've met now."
