What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

My mom is looking for a book that she read. Bad guy is chased by good guys - probably a spy novel of some kind. Rather than be caught, the bad guy goes to top of a mountain where he then freezes.

Any thoughts?

Read a book like this once...but not spy stuff... Bad guy was serial killer who killed with ice picks... Had weird girlfriend, was hunted by older cop... Bad guy emasculated himself before freezing to death on a mountain...
