Speculative Short Fiction Deserves Love discussion

When I read short stories as stand-alones, GR still counts that toward my reading challenge. It makes me self-conscious. Does anyone else feel that way, or am I too obsessive?

Reading challenges are for fun and to get people reading. If you read a bunch of shorts for it, I don't see that as a problem. You've still read a complete work, so it should count.

As long as it's not for a contest, and you're specifically choosing short stories because they're a quicker read in order to win, I really don't see a problem. You've read a story - not "you've read a story longer than X amount of words".
