Have you read anything by these authors? Do you plan to?

Susan Davis | 14 comments I have read them and really enjoyed them and will continue to do so.

Anna (aetm) | 192 comments I've read the first two (in English).

Ylitalo Leppa is "just" the translator, but like in Scandinavia, the translator gets a lot of credit, so that's why it's so prominently mentioned. (Sort of like when you now see a book translated from Norwegian sold in US and it's got Don Bartlett listed in the cover)

Pretty decent stories, but I love more twists and turns, so more Nesbø and Connelly to be even more enjoyable. But I wouldn't say no if a book walked past me. :)

I don't know how much difference there is in the availability of those books in different states, but at least in TX I have never run to a physical copy in English, and I've spent many many hours in all sorts of book stores (and libraries). But - it's a good way to start. Before Ice Cold Crime Llc, there were just about four Finnish authors in total that were available in English - in the past 40 years. I guess it's easier to have a Finnish label instead of trying to go thru the hoops of Putnam, Penguin, Soho Crime or other big houses. And at least Ice Cold Crime won't run out of Finnish books to translate :)

Susan Davis | 14 comments I'm so glad to find others that love the Nordic mysteries. Wish there were more that were translated, have to be patient.

message 6: by Dee, the Insanity Check (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 652 comments seems like Amazon Crossings is starting to pick up a bunch of the authors as well - which is their translation publishing branch

message 7: by Susan (new)

Susan Davis | 14 comments Maybe that will speed things up.

message 8: by Jeremy (new)

Jeremy Megraw (jmegraw) | 29 comments I read and enjoyed Helsinki Homicide: Nothing but the Truth. As usual, another Scandicrime series translated out of order, but it's pretty good w/ attractive characters.
