Call for Nomination for Christmas/Religious Holidays Poll

I might as well kick this off; I'll nominate Dash & Lily's Book of Dares because would like to read something different than a standard Christmas story. This will push me out of my comfort zone and matches the theme
I'm not a fan of Christmas themed novels, so I planned on skipping this one. But since we need some nominations, I'll give it a shot. I nominate The Spy Who Came For Christmas which is also definitely not the typical Christmas novel since it is a spy thriller. The author was unfamiliar to me, but he wrote First Blood and the other Rambo novels so I'm sure he is well known to many thriller buffs.

Thanks, I was beginning to worry that no one would nominate. It might be a very small poll

I think it fits, I'll allow it

I nominate A Christmas Memory, One Christmas, & The Thanksgiving Visitor by Truman Capote. There is nothing spiritual about these novellas, but deal with Capote's memories of family, particularly his Aunt Sook who was more child than adult. Capote was the subject of a bitter custody dispute following his parent's divorce. His father, Arch Persons, spent little time with him. His mother remarried, spending her time in New York with her husband. Truman took his stepfather's name, writing his father that he was no longer Truman Persons but should be known as Truman Capote. His time with relatives in Monroeville, Alabama, was as close to what could be considered as a normal family life possible. For those looking for something with a holiday theme without religious overtones, this is it.
How about Tied Up In Tinsel by Ngaio Marsh? A murder mystery that takes place in an English manor over Christmas.

Nice one Mike

sounds interesting Nancy, will it matter that it's apart of a series?

I don't think so. I read books in many different series and don't worry about reading them sequentially.
I'll nominate A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. It's a classic and short too! For the busy holiday season.
Wow, I couldn't think of a single book for this theme, but the suggestions are great so far! I must admit though that I'm, like Laurie, not much of a seasonal reader.
